Buffy‘s days numbered on the WB?

CNN/Reuters is reporting that the WB Network’s exclusive negotiating period for renewing Buffy, the Vampire Slayer is up Thursday (3/1), and WB and Fox Television still haven’t come to terms…
Seems WB is offering $1.6M/episode, but Fox wants more. They want the total production cost plus more – estimated to be in the mid-$2M range. Fox may wish to sell it to Fox Broadcasting (yes, itself, in a weird dysfunctional family sort of way), but ABC and UPN are said to be interested as well.
Hmmm…if they don’t get the full production cost from the network, where does the rest come from? Advertising revenue sharing? Merchandising?
