New Batman announced

Warner Brothers Pictures has finally revealed the actor expected to ressurect the Batman franchise for a fifth movie: Christian Bale (Reign of Fire). In addition, some details have also been released – the movie will in essense be a prequel to the previous movies, following hte Dark Knight’s early career, directed by Christopher Nolan (Insomnia) and based on a script by Nolan and Dave Goyer (the Blade movies).

prequels again?
i have the fear that the batman franchise is slitting its wrists. prequels rarely succeed. look at star wars and enterprise (though taken out of official star trek context i do like enterprise). batman already took a thrashing with less able actors and directors at the helm with each subsequent movie. hrrmm… since there’s no way to stop this from happening i’ll just have to hope for the best…
