Updated: Ghost in the Shell 2 web site update – in theaters Friday

The official website for Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, the long awaited anime sequel, has been updated, including an interview with Writer/Director Mamoru Oshii, and a full list of where you can see it when it opens in Friday 9/17. GITS2 features a hybrid of traditional 2D anime with 3D CGI.

Updated 9/15: The first 8 minutes of the movie are now available at iFilm.

Lost in Space Season 2 Volume 1 out 9/14

The first part of the second season of Lost in Space will be released Tuesday, containing 16 episodes on 4 discs – no special features as far as I can see. The second part will be released on 11/30.

Lucasfilm confirms Star Wars TV series; Hamill talks third trilogy

TheForce.Net is running an article that Lucasfilm has confirmed at the DVD release press conference that a Star Wars TV series has been planned – but offered no details at all. And ComingSoon.net reports that Mark Hamill at the same event recalled a discussion he had with George Lucas years ago, regarding the fabled Episodes 7, 8 an 9.

SCI FI Channel to redo Andromeda Strain and The Thing

In this remake happy world, the SCI FI Channel wants to be king. Both The Andromeda Strain and The Thing are on the table for the miniseries treatment, with Ridley Scott heading up Strain and Frank Darabont on The Thing.

Hugos awarded at Worldcon/Noreascon in Boston

This past weekend was the 62nd annual World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon), held at Noreascon Four in Boston (which unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend depsite being nearby). As usual, the fan-voted Hugo awards were presented – see the winner’s list including the voting details for their “Australian” (or Intant Runoff Voting) ballot system. No suprises in Best Dramatic Presentation: Long Form was taken by The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers with 69% of the first-place votes. Short Form was won by “Gollum’s Acceptance Speech at the 2003 MTV Movie Awards”…

Jeremiah returns tonight

Farscape:The PeaceKeeper Wars trailer

Countess Fenrig writes “A nice taste of what is to come. Farscape:The PeaceKeeper Wars concludes the Farscape series, after it was left on a cliffhanger and then cancelled by your friends and mine,”The SciFi channel.

Anyway, the trailer looks fab and looks to have had a decent budget too.
