Inside The Magic’s Ricky Brigante is planning on doing it again this year…can’t wait to see the results!

Word began to spread that Warehouse 13 must have been renewed when a union web site listed under their “Current Productions” “Warehouse 13 (final)”, with production dates of June 24th-Aug 20th, at the studio location in Toronto – but what was interesting is that isn’t enough time for even a 13 episode season.

Now it appears that Syfy has renewed it for a final season of only six episodes, according to Deadline [Doc: This is confirmed now - see below]. This is better than nothing, of course, and as far as it being the final season, it’s not surprising given the show’s apparent bubble status. At least we should get a good wrap up.

But I can’t help but think about what happened with Eureka, where an apparent 6th and final season of six episodes was planned, and then canceled…

Update 5/17: Syfy has confirmed the order for 6 episodes for a final season to air in 2014. From the press release:

NEW YORK – May 17, 2013 – Syfy today announced that its long-running flagship series Warehouse 13 will return for a fifth and final season of six episodes in 2014.

A production of Universal Cable Productions, Warehouse 13 will begin filming in Toronto this summer.

Said Mark Stern, President, Original Content, Syfy, and Co-Head, Original Content, Universal Cable Productions: “Warehouse 13 has been an incredible signature series for us. We are grateful to the loyal and passionate fan base and know that Jack Kenny, his gifted creative team, and outstanding ensemble cast will give them an amazing finale season.”

Warehouse 13 airs on Syfy Mondays at 10PM (ET/PT), following the new hit series Defiance at 9PM (ET/PT).

Warehouse 13 follows a team of government agents who work at a massive, top-secret storage facility in windswept South Dakota, which houses every strange artifact, mysterious relic, fantastical object and preternatural souvenir ever collected by the U.S. government. The Warehouse’s caretaker Artie Nielsen (Saul Rubinek) charges Pete Lattimer (Eddie McClintock), Myka Bering (Joanne Kelly), Claudia Donovan (Allison Scagliotti) and Steve Jinks (Aaron Ashmore) with chasing down reports of supernatural and paranormal activity in search of new objects to cache at the Warehouse, as well as helping him control the Warehouse itself.

Warehouse 13 is produced for Syfy by Universal Cable Productions. Jack Kenny (The Book of Daniel) is executive producer and showrunner.

Jack Kenny said on Twitter, “Thanks, Twitterverse, for all the support. Like all good things, this must come to an end, and we’ll definitely give you six fabulous eps!!”

Former Battlestar Galactica and Caprica executive producer David Eick is taking over the reins of Falling Skies from Remi Aubuchon as showrunner.

What is somewhat interesting is that Eick is taking over production for Season 4 – which has not been greenlit yet, with Season 3 set to debut on June 9th. Eick is expected to get together a writing squad for Season 4 right away in anticipation of pickup, due to the long production cycle of the show. But it is fully expected to get that Season 4 order, being the top scripted show on TNT with the younger demos, and also being fully owned by TNT, which means TNT gets all the income from international sales as well.

Aubuchon, who worked with Eick on Caprica, is leaving after serving in the role for two seasons.

Also, Season 2 of Falling Skies hits shelves and doorsteps on June 4th on Blu-ray and DVD. You can also check out our Sci-Fi TV Store for previous seasons and Amazon Instant Video availability.

Oscar and Tony Award-winning legendary actor Joel Grey (Cabaret) conjures up mayhem on Syfy’s Warehouse 13 when he guest stars on the Monday, May 20 episode, premiering at 10PM (ET/PT).

In “The Sky’s the Limit,” Grey plays Las Vegas lounge act magician Monty the Magnificent, who’s worked the strip for decades. When his casino employers think Monty’s act is getting stale, Monty enlists the help of a powerful artifact that turn his parlor tricks into wondrous, but deadly feats.

Also guest starring in the May 20 episode are Steve Valentine (Crossing Jordan) as Val Preston, a headliner who’s in desperate need of something new to spice up his own act, and Kelly Hu (X-Men), who plays Abigail Cho, a protégé of Mrs. Frederic (CCH Pounder).

Pursuant to our previous article on Warner Bros developing a Dungeons & Dragons movie, it appears that Hasbro is prepared to take the case to court – but not against Warner Bros.

The defendant appears to be Courtney Solomon’s Sweetpea Entertainment, who produced the 2000 Dungeons & Dragons, as well as the 2005 sequel Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God. The quoted article has a number of problems that make it hard to make sense of what they are saying, but the 2005 sequel would appear to have qualified, but the 2012 Dungeons & Dragons: The Book of Vile Darkness might, as Hasbro claims, not qualify, since it was more than 5 years after the previous effort and retained no characters or situations from either. But I also don’t see Courtney Solomon or Sweetpea in the credits list on IMDb.
