The second season of hit series Alphas begins on July 23rd on Syfy, and Syfy has announced a long line of new and returning guest stars who will be appearing this season, including fan favorite Summer Glau who will appear in three episodes!
New this season are Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Rudy), C. Thomas Howell (Southland), Lauren Holly (NCIS), Steve Byers (Immortals, Total Recall), Kandyse McClure (Battlestar Galactica) and Noah Reid (Rookie Blue). Returning guest stars include John Pyper-Ferguson (Caprica, Brothers and Sisters) as Stanton Parish, Kathleen Munroe (Haven, Stargate Universe) as Dani Rosen and Mahershala Ali (Treme, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) as Agent Nathan Cley. Summer Glau (Dollhouse, Firefly) who was a fan favorite last season playing an Alpha, Skylar Adams, will return for three episodes.
The first season of Syfy’s Alphas will be released on DVD (no Blu-ray at this time) on July 17th, 2012.

Syfy announced it’s summer season schedule for new and returning series, including the return of Warehouse 13 and Alphas on Monday, July 23rd, a week after the series finale of Eureka, and Lost Girl will move to Fridays at 10pm starting July 20th. Syfy has announced that Jack Bender, who directed many episodes of Lost (and exec produced) as well as the pilot for Alphas and most recently several episodes of Alcatraz has been hired to direct the pilot for Syfy‘s upcoming pilot Rewind, which was ordered just last month. Rewind is a joint production of BermanBraun and Universal Cable Productions, who also produce Alphas.
Executive producer/showrunner will switch Syfy series, moving from Eureka (having just finished production on it’s fifth and final season) and taking over the reins of Alphas from Ira Steven Behr, according to Deadline. Miller has previously worked as a producer for series such as The 4400, Medium and ER.
Here is a sneak peek of the first season finale of Alphas, airing next Monday, September 26th at 10pm ET/9pm CT on Syfy!! The Alphas team is taking on their hardest project yet as they go up against their nemesis in Red Flag. Dr. Rosen realizes that his daughter is now caught up in the mission and is being followed by Red Flag. You’ll have to watch the clip and tune in to the season finale to see just how personal the task at hand may become as the Alphas seek to keep damage to a minimum.
Note that Warehouse 13 will return in two weeks with its own season finale, “Stand”.

Carter and Jo make a stop near a creek with Dr. Plotkin to check in on Taggert. Plotkin and Taggert continue their feud as Plotkin is there to pick up a scientific instrument that belongs to him, while Taggert is explaining why his own research benefits all life on the planet. All of a sudden, as Plotkin is retrieving his planted rod, Taggert’s truck is mysteriously sucked into the sky. Be sure to watch the clip and tune in to the season finale at 8/7c to see if Plotkin had something to do with it, or if external factors are at work.
Following up to an earlier tweet (you are following us on Twitter, aren’t you?), Syfy announced today that they have renewed freshman series Alphas for a second season.
Mark Stern, President, Original Content, Syfy, and Co-Head, Original Content, Universal Cable Productions, made the announcement. Syfy is ordering 13 episodes of the breakout scripted summer hit from series producers Universal Cable Productions and BermanBraun Television to air in 2012.
Here are the preview’s for next Monday’s Syfy “Powerful Mondays” lineup, starting at 8PM ET…oh, and Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek: Voyager) joins the cast of Warehouse 13 for four episodes! In Monday’s episode “The 40th Floor,” Mulgrew plays “Jane,” a Regent of Warehouse 13 who becomes vitally important to the survival of the Warehouse, while revealing a complex past with one of the agents. As the war on the Regents continues, Jane must make a bold decision that has far-reaching impact on both the Warehouse and the team.
Also guest starring will be Sasha Roiz (Grimm, Caprica), who will return as the sinister Marcus Diamond.
