Syfy has decided to postpone the regular Saturday schedule today to offer up a marathon of shark attack movies, culminating in another encore presentation of the social media feeding frenzy movie, Sharknado.
This means tonight’s scheduled new episodes of Sinbad and Primeval: New World are preempted. Instead, Sinbad will return on August 3rd with the final five episodes being shown in a marathon starting at 6/5c. Then Primeval: New World will do the same the following Saturday, August 10th, starting at 5/4c with the final 6 episodes.
Unfortunately, with Syfy “burning off” the remaining episodes in this fashion, I think what little hope fans had that Syfy would take up the primary production costs for a new season has now been dashed…
In the next Sinbad, Sinbad and his friends are trapped in an enchanted gaming house run by sinister twins.
Tune in Saturday at 9/9c for “House of Games”.
In Saturday’s episode of Sinbad, captured by blood-thirsty water thieves, Sinbad must outsmart their cruel queen, Razia. Watch the preview below plus a bonus interview and tune in at 9/8c on Syfy Saturday!
Two acquired TV series, Sinbad, from the UK, and Primeval: New World, the Canadian spin-off of the UK series, both make their debut in the US on Syfy tomorrow night starting at 9/8c.
Sinbad, starring Elliot Knight, follows the adventures of a sailor cursed such that cannot remain on land for more than a day, pursed by the powerful Lord Akabi whose son Sinbad accidentally killed.
Primeval: New World, a spinoff of the British series Primeval, follows Evan Cross (Niall Matter, Eureka), a genius micro-tech inventor who decides to investigate the anomalies after a tragic encounter with a dinosaur, and pulls together a top-notch team.
Sinbad airs at 9/8c, followed by Primeval: New World at 10/9c on Syfy Saturday.
We finally have an air date for Primeval: New World and the new British import, Sinbad: June 8th! From the press release:
SYFY’S NEWEST ORIGINAL SERIES SINBAD AND PRIMEVAL: NEW WORLD WILL PREMIERE SATURDAY, JUNE 8
NEW YORK – March 28, 2013 – Building on the success of acquired original series such as Lost Girl and Continuum, Syfy today announced that Sinbad and Primeval: New World will join the prime time schedule beginning Saturday, June 8.
Syfy has acquired another foreign-produced program – this time, it is British action-adventure series Sinbad, about the famous mythological sailor.
Starring newcomer Elliot Knight in the title role, the 12-part series follows Sinbad’s sea-bound journey after he is forced to flee from his home town of Basra. Surviving a violent and magical storm, Sinbad embarks on an emotional journey to embrace his destiny.
Naveen Andrews (Lost) stars as Sinbad’s nemesis, Lord Akbari. The series also features appearances by Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda, The Secret Life of Bees), Timothy Spall (Harry Potter, The King’s Speech) and Dougray Scott (Hitman, Mission Impossible: II).
On board “The Providence,” Sinbad is joined by an intriguing band of travelers including Norwegian sailor Gunnar (Elliot Cowan), the jewel-thief Rina (Marama Corlett), and aristocrat Nala (Estella Daniels). Completing the ship’s complement is the Cook (Junix Inocian) and the cerebral doctor Anwar (Dimitri Leonidas).
Sinbad joins an increasing portfolio of imports on Syfy which includes Merlin, Lost Girl and the recently acquired Continuum. Sinbad is expected to begin airing on Syfy next April.
