Hit Syfy series Z Nation has been renewed for a fourth season! Planned for 13 episodes to air later in 2017, the series follows a group avoid zombies (called “Zs”) while they try to transport the only survivor of a zombie bite, Murphy (Keith Allan) to a research facility to hopefully find a vaccine. Season 3 involved Murphy going independent and forming a community of Blends (humans he infected with his own bite that allowed him to control them but also be immune to the Zs. The series also stars Kellita Smith, DJ Qualls, Anastasia Baranova, Nat Zang and Emilio Rivera.
Star Trek: Discovery casting appears to have shifted into high gear. In addition to the casting of Michelle Yeoh previously announced (although we are now hearing her name is Captain Georgiou), Doug Jones (The Strain, Falling Skies) and Anthony Rapp (Rent, A Beautiful Mind) have joined the cast.
Jones will play Lt. Saru, from a new alien species, who is a science officer for Starfleet, while Rapp will play Lt. Stamets, an astromycologist (a space fungus expert…) on the Discovery.
The lead role, a lieutenant commander on the Discovery simply known as Number One (and speculated to later be the first officer of the Enterprise under Captain Pike), has yet to be cast.

Syfy sets fall premiere dates for Z Nation, Van Helsing, Channel Zero: Candle Cove, Incorporated, Aftermath
Syfy has announced the fall premiere dates for scripted shows…in all one returning and 4 new programs.
Z Nation – Special 2-hour premiere 8/7c Friday, September 16th, will air regularly at 9/8c the following Friday.
Van Helsing – NEW – Friday, September 23th, 10/9c – Van Helsing reimagines the timeless Dracula brand with the resurrection of Vanessa Helsing, a descendent of the Van Helsing lineage of warriors who now must lead mankind against a world controlled by vampires in the post-Rising landscape. Starring Kelly Overton (True Blood), Jonathan Scarfe (Hell on Wheels), Christopher Heyerdahl (Sanctuary, True Blood), Paul Johansson (One Tree Hill), David Cubbit (Medium), Vincent Gale (Bates Motel) and Tim Guinee (Homeland)
Channel Zero: Candle Cove – NEW – Tuesday, September 27th, 9/8c – Channel Zero is an anthology series where each set of episodes relates to to a single story. The first six-episode run, called Candle Cove, is based on the “creepypasta” (a viral story copy and pasted around the net) story of the same name written by Kris Staub that takes the form of a forum discussion about remembering a short-lived children’s TV show.
Aftermath – NEW – Tuesday, September 27th, 10/9c – The show centers on couple Karen and Joshua Copeland, and their children Dana, Brianna and Matt, who must battle for survival after civilization comes to an apocalyptic end, triggered by massive storms, meteor strikes, earthquakes and plague – and the rise of supernatural creatures. Anne Heche and James Tupper play the parents and Julie Sarah Stone (The Killing) and Levi Meaden (The Killing, Olympus), and Taylor Hickson (Deadpool) play the three Copeland children.
Incorporated – NEW – Wednesday November 30th, 10/9c – Set in a near future where corporations have unlimited power, Incorporated centers around Ben Larson (Sean Teale, Reign), a young executive who conceals his true identity to infiltrate a very dangerous corporate world to save the woman he loves. But he’ll soon learn that he’s not the only one whose secrets may have deadly consequences. From Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s Pearl Street Films, it also stars Eddie Ramos (Teen Wolf), Golden Globe nominee Dennis Haysbert (24), and Emmy Award winner Julia Ormond (Mad Men). In addition, Denyse Tontz (The Fosters) was recently announced for the regular role of Elena, the love of Ben’s life, who is forced to sell herself into servitude to pay off her family’s debts.
Syfy and The Asylum today announced that scripted drama series Z Nation will be back to Z-Whack its way through a third season of zombie road trippin’ action. A 15-hour third season is slated to premiere on Syfy in 2016.
Z Nation takes place three years after a zombie virus gutted the country. A team of everyday heroes is tasked with transporting the only known survivor of the plague across the country to the last functioning viral lab in post-apocalyptic America, in hopes of using his blood to create a cure for the virus.
Currently in the midst of Season 2, Z Nation is averaging 1.5 million total viewers per episode (Live +7). To date, it ranks as the network’s most social original series in total social engagements.
Z Nation stars Kellita Smith (The Bernie Mac Show), DJ Qualls (Supernatural, The Man in the High Castle), Keith Allan (Rise of the Zombies), Anastasia Baranova (The Darkness II), Russell Hodgkinson (Big Fish), Nat Zang and Matt Cedeño (Devious Maids). This season, Emilio Rivera (Sons of Anarchy) appears as a recurring guest star.
Karl Schaefer (Eerie Indiana, Eureka, The Dead Zone) serves as executive producer and showrunner. The series is produced by The Asylum and sold internationally by Dynamic Television.
Z Nation is currently airing Fridays at 10/9c on Syfy. Upcoming guest stars include Missi Pyle, Doug Jones, Anthony Michael Hall and Gina Gershon.

Syfy has set their schedule for the Thanksgiving weekend, chock full of black gooey goodness…
Syfy will kick off the movie fun on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 27 beginning at 9:30AM (ET/PT) with 2001: A Space Odyssey, followed by Star Trek Nemesis, Space Cowboys, Stargate and Poseidon.
To get fans ready for the return of Helix, Syfy will telecast the entire first season of the hit drama on Friday, November 28 from 6AM-6PM. The Black Goo Friday marathon features cast interviews as well as a never-before-seen sneak peek of Season 2, which premieres Friday, January 16 at 10PM.
Haven (7PM), SmackDown (8PM) and Z Nation (10PM) will comprise the Friday primetime schedule.
The Saturday, November 29 movie marathon will begin at 10AM, highlighted by classic science fiction flicks ranging from Fifth Element and Terminator 2 to Blade: Trinity.
The holiday programming extravaganza will conclude on Sunday, November 30, beginning at 10:30AM, with movies such as 30 Days of Night and The Happening.
In Friday’s Z Nation, the survivors must clash with an army of glowing, radioactive zombies to prevent a nuclear disaster. Tune in for “Going Nuclear” Friday night at 10/9c on Syfy!
