Summoning Light, book 2 of The Passing of the Techno-Mages Trilogy by Jeanne Cavelos (order from [asin=034542722X]Amazon.com[/asin]), was released a few weeks ago. Here is my brief review…(and I’ve even fixed the Book Review format so that all the relevant info is displayed…)

I would like to encourage anyone looking for something interesting to read to head over to www.rightascension.com. This came through anonymously: just an update on the dustrunners show you wrote about a few weeks ago… well, things are heating up on the site! the Game to become a character in the show has five dead people already, and there’s something bout “typhoon” that is important, too. Storm stuff
by Doc on Jul.26, 2001, under General News
Well, it’s been a bit of a slow week. Obviously, I’m not posting just anything to the site – only some of the major news items I’m catching elsewhere. Very little is being submitted, and my time is more limited now. So I need your help…
PLEASE, submit news items that you think are worthy. Post comments. Tell your friends about the site (traffic is important). Buy stuff from Amazon.com via the links on the left. It’s getting to the point that I have to question whether it is worth the energy or not. Trust me, if the load gets to be too much, I’ll deputize some of you as authors/moderators…
I do have some plans for the site. I never finished the graphics style I wanted, but I’m now thinking of migrating to PHP-Nuke instead of Slashcode 2.X, and that would allow for “themes” and easier customization. This would probably happen with a server replacement (I’ve got a new server, but I’m questioning its stability right now), but I have to figure out how much of a mess it will be to convert.

by Doc on Jul.26, 2001, under Television
According to TrekWeb, the producers will no longer accept fan-written scripts that are submitted without agent representation. Since The Next Generation, producers have openly welcomed such scripts, but legal matters are taking precedence.

by Doc on Jul.18, 2001, under Television
Remember all the talk about James Cameron turning Kim Stanley Robinson’s Mars Trilogy ([asin=0553560735]Red Mars[/asin], [asin=0553572393]Green Mars[/asin], [asin=0553573357]Blue Mars[/asin]) into a television miniseries, and instead we got Dark Angel? Well, according to Sci-Fi Wire, since the Sci Fi Channel intends to produce its own adaptation, Cameron is now working on his own script, and intends to produce different media versions – a miniseries, 3D IMAX film, and a novel…
