Review: Summoning Light

Summoning Light, book 2 of The Passing of the Techno-Mages Trilogy by Jeanne Cavelos (order from [asin=034542722X]Amazon.com[/asin]), was released a few weeks ago. Here is my brief review…(and I’ve even fixed the Book Review format so that all the relevant info is displayed…)

I’m not much of a review writer – this will be brief. But, put simply, this book, along with
[asin=0345427211]Casting Shadows[/asin], have to be the two best Television tie-in novels ever. The first book gets you in its grip of intrigue, finding out details of the history and tradition of the mysterious Techno-mages. The second continues where the first ended, revealing the motivations of Elric and being constantly torn between the desire to good and the power to destroy everything, especially after discovering the long-kept secret of the Circle and their true origins and purpose (perhaps spoiled a bit if you read JMS’s script for the unfilmed season-ender for Crusade).

I await anxiously for the final book, [asin=0345438337]Invoking Darkness[/asin], due in November.
