Original Trek items going up for auction

Got a few extra thousand dollars? Want a piece of television history? On Dec. 12th, eBay will be hosting a live auction of original Star Trek items, put up by members of the original production crew. I don’t think everything has been listed yet, but you can get Captain Kirk’s tunic, a complete set of scripts, and even the last remaining production model of the Enterprise. Time to sell the house…

Shrek video beats Monsters, Inc. box office

Seems the lovable ogre has staying power. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the DVD/Video release of Shrek managed to bring in $110 million in three days of sales (breaking all video records for the past six years). Monsters, Inc. managed only a meager $62.6 million this weekend… :^)

Dragthor writes “StarWars.com has the official “breathing” trailer online. You have to have a registered version of QuickTime Pro 5 to view the larger resolution one. However, the medium and small versions do not require registration. It is the exact same trailer that was before Monsters, Inc.”

Toy Story 3 in the works

SCI FI Wire has a story that Tim Allen, in a syndicated interview, said they are working on Toy Story 3. In addition, filming on Santa Clause 2 begins in January or February.

According to the sidebar at SCI FI Wire, Zentertainment is reporting (I couldn’t find it) that there will be a special Star Trek episode of The Weakest Link airing Nov. 26th. It will feature William Shatner, Denise Crosby, John De Lancie, Wil Wheaton, LeVar Burton, Robert Picardo, Roxann Dawson and Armin Shimerman.
A changed E.T. comes to DVD

The Chicago Tribune (and scooped by Dark Horizons) reports that the DVD of E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial will contain an altered movie. Notably a line from the Halloween scene about appearing as a terrorist has been cut, and policemen who were holding rifles in the flying scene apparently will be holding cell phones (“Yeah chief, you’re not gonna believe this…”). Also, two previously deleted scenes have been restored including a bathtub scene with E.T. and Elliot with E.T cracking open a beer…
