by Doc on Jan.17, 2002, under Television
Just caught this on CNN – The X-Files will end its 9-year run in May, as Chris Carter has pulled the plug. Competition and sagging ratings after the departure of David Duchovny (Agent Fox Mulder) are cited.

Tron 2.0 moving forward?
by Doc on Jan.16, 2002, under Movies
Caught this on Coming Attractions – apparently the just-released DVD contains a rather bizarre promo ending with the URL http://www.tronkillerapp.com/. This site looks like you need authorized access, but no matter what you answer, you get a brief message about needing help and being contacted shortly. Certainly seems like something is planned…

by Doc on Jan.15, 2002, under Television
I haven’t posted about Stargate SG-1 in a while – because I haven’t seen any news. Well, Amanda Tapping (Major Samamtha Carter) did an interview for SCI FI Wire where she talks a bit about season 6 (which moves to the SCI FI Channel in June), keeping her character fresh, and the fate of Dr. Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks is departing the show at the end of the fifth season). Alas, you might be spoiled a bit…
Update 1/16: And this interview discusses the direct-to-video movie she did with Adrian Paul (The Highlander), called The Void.

According to the officia Andromeda website, Robert Engels will take over the writing team for Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda, replacing the departed Robert Hewitt Wolfe. ‘N Sync to appear in Clones – maybe?
by Doc on Jan.11, 2002, under Movies
Well, the rumors are true – at least according to E! Online. Lucasfilm has confirmed that the members of boy band ‘N Sync will appear as Jedi Knights in a big battle scene in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. No dialogue, not even credits – but at least we have something to look forward to – they get blown up.
Update 1/10: It appears fans have had their say. According to this article on SCI FI Wire, Joey Fatone said on a Florida radio show that Lucas has cut the cameo, “because people made a big deal about it.” Hear the interview at WFLZ 93.3FM’s web page.
Update 1/11: Now a Lucasfilm rep is saying no decision has been made…
