Hmmm…SG-1 news is coming out of the woodwork now. Seems that Corin Nemec, star of Parker Lewis Can’t Lose, will be joining the regular cast of Stargate SG-1 for its sixth season, and will actually appear in the Season 5 finale. He will play Jonas Quinn, a human from another planet. Production begins in February.
Just caught this on CNN – The X-Files will end its 9-year run in May, as Chris Carter has pulled the plug. Competition and sagging ratings after the departure of David Duchovny (Agent Fox Mulder) are cited.
Just a reminder that Babylon 5: The Legend of the Rangers movie/pilot, To Live and Die in Starlight, premieres at 9:00PM this Saturday (1/19), with an encore at 11:00PM as well as Sunday at 5:00PM (following The Gathering). You wouldn’t believe how much SCI FI is promoting this – even Bonnie Hammer, President of the SCI FI Channel, has turned her BMW into a billboard.
Caught this on Coming Attractions – apparently the just-released DVD contains a rather bizarre promo ending with the URL http://www.tronkillerapp.com/. This site looks like you need authorized access, but no matter what you answer, you get a brief message about needing help and being contacted shortly. Certainly seems like something is planned…
I haven’t posted about Stargate SG-1 in a while – because I haven’t seen any news. Well, Amanda Tapping (Major Samamtha Carter) did an interview for SCI FI Wire where she talks a bit about season 6 (which moves to the SCI FI Channel in June), keeping her character fresh, and the fate of Dr. Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks is departing the show at the end of the fifth season). Alas, you might be spoiled a bit…
Update 1/16: And this interview discusses the direct-to-video movie she did with Adrian Paul (The Highlander), called The Void.
Forgot about this one…the 20th Anniversary Tron DVD hits store shelves tomorrow (January 15th) – be sure to order yours today from Amazon.com. Features include widescreen, all new “Making of…” special, deleted scenes, deleted soundtrack music, and more.
Seems every up-and-coming actress is taking a shot to start opposite Ben Affleck in the upcoming Daredevil movie. The latest: Jolene Blalock (Enterprise), per SCI FI Wire, and Jennifer Garner (Alias), according to Variety.
According to the officia Andromeda website, Robert Engels will take over the writing team for Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda, replacing the departed Robert Hewitt Wolfe. They credit him with helping develop Twin Peaks, and co-exec producing seaQuest DSV, but iMDB doesn’t confirm the latter. For the sake of the show I hope nor… :^)
Paramount has announced they will release a Season 1 DVD set of Star Trek: The Next Generation on March 26th, and then each subsequent season released every other month. The first set will consist of 7 DVDs with all 26 episodes with remixed Dolby 5.1 sound and 4 brand new documentaries. As soon as Amazon lists them, I’ll add them to the Sci Fi TV Store.
Well, the rumors are true – at least according to E! Online. Lucasfilm has confirmed that the members of boy band ‘N Sync will appear as Jedi Knights in a big battle scene in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. No dialogue, not even credits – but at least we have something to look forward to – they get blown up.
Update 1/10: It appears fans have had their say. According to this article on SCI FI Wire, Joey Fatone said on a Florida radio show that Lucas has cut the cameo, “because people made a big deal about it.” Hear the interview at WFLZ 93.3FM’s web page.
Update 1/11: Now a Lucasfilm rep is saying no decision has been made…
