by on Jul.31, 2002, under Movies

MTV.com is reporting that X2, the sequel to X-Men, is just full of new mutants – some we’ve already reported. But here is a list: Colossus (played by Daniel Cudmore), Jubilee (Kea Wong), Kitty Pryde (Katie Stuart), Siryn (Shauna Kain), Pyro (Aaron Stanford), Iceman (Shawn Ashmore), Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming), Beast (just a cameo, probably CGI) and Gambit (Unknown). They also confirm that Toad and Sabretooth will not return.

New features

by on Jul.28, 2002, under General News

I’ve added two portal boxes (also called “slashboxes”) – the boxes that appear on the right side. These consist of a “Coming Soon” and a “Recent Releases” view of items from our various SF stores. This way you’ll be able to see what just came out and what is coming soon, including the estimated release date.

If you’ve set up an account, you need to go to your Preferences and add them under the “Customizing Slashboxes” section.

In addition, we’ve added an Andromeda section the SciFi TV Store for the forthcoming Season 1 Volume 1 DVD release.

Looks like the the award-winning story of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, part two (and best known) of the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, will finally get adapted for the big screen. Walden Media, which in December optioned the entire 7 part series, will produce in partnership with the C.S. Lewis Company, and Ann Peacock (Emmy-winning writer for A Lesson Before Dying) will adapt it.

Update 8/1: Andrew Adamson (Shrek) will direct, according to Variety.

by on Jul.25, 2002, under General News

I’ve already noted that the Complete Season 2 Box Set is due out September 3rd. Now, those of you that bought the first two DVD volumes from the first season don’t need to buy the Season 1 Box Set to get the rest – Volume 3, Volume 4, and Volume 5 will also hit the streets on 9/3, completing the first season as individual DVDs. Also, the entire series of Space: 1999 – two seasons, 48 episodes – plus extras will appear on a 16 DVD Mega Set due 9/24. Head on over to the Stargate SG-1 Store and the Sci-Fi TV Store for details.

Update: Every time I edit this article, I find something else. The first 13 episodes of Gerry Anderson’s UFO will be released this coming Tuesday as a 4 DVD set.

Now that Dinotopia is being converted to a weekly series for ABC, all the lead roles have been recast. since the miniseries was never planned to be a pilot, casting decisions and such did not revolve around the long term. So now, the leads will be played by Erik Von Detten (The Princess Diaries), playing Carl; Shiloh Strong (Foxfire) as David, and Georgina Rylance (Man and Boy) as Rosemary.
