Alien vs. Predator moving forward?

I’ve been hearing rumors of Alien vs. Predator for – well – a decade. All that came out were video games. Now, it seems, a movie might become a reality – Paul Anderson (Resident Evil director) has been hired to write and direct the movie which merges the storylines from the Alien and Predator franchises.

Comix links and available story sources
In the late 80’s comix of both story lines and even PocketBook novels of Alien stories were very active. Will we see any related material from those sources?

I think it would have made a decent movie, but we’ll have to wait and see if the one they choose to film is any better.
