Rumors true – Wheaton cameo cut from Nemesis
by Doc on Aug.15, 2002, under Movies
Wil Wheaton, who played Wesley Crusher in Star Trek: The Next Generation, has confirmed on his web site that his cameo appearance near the beginning of Star Trek: Nemesis has been cut. He received a call from Rick Berman personally – apparently the first cut of the movie clocked in at three hours! And since the scene didn’t involved the main storyline, it got cut. Although I’m sure we’ll see it on the “super-duper extra-platinum collector’s mega-ultimate gift set” DVD…

The Core trailer on the Web
by Doc on Aug.13, 2002, under Movies
The trailer for the movie The Core has hit the web. The movie stars Aaron Eckhart (Erin Brockovich) and Hillary Swank (Insomnia) and is about a trip to the Earth’s core to prevent a global disaster precipitated by the dumping of nuclear waste.
Update 8/19: Forget the nuclear waste. Seems it is an “unknown force” that causes the Earth’s core to stop spinning, disrupting the magnetic field.
Store reorganization
by Doc on Aug.09, 2002, under General News
I have been doing some minor reorganization of the various affiliate stores to bring them under the Sci-Fi Storm site and make them look better, including more product info extracted directly from Amazon.com. Now the stores can be reached via http://stores.scifistorm.org/. The Sci-Fi TV and Stargate SG-1 stores are actually on a new server, and the B5 and Known Space stores will move soon. Let me know if there are any problems.

Yet Another Who movie rumor
by Doc on Aug.08, 2002, under Movies
Stumbled upon this one at Outpost Gallifrey: Sky’s entertainment channel (in the UK) announced on August 2nd that Dreamworks SKG was about to start production in a Doctor Who feature film – with Will Smith as producer! Seems far fetched, but hey – sometimes those are the true ones…

At Comic-Con, Lucasfilm spokesman Steve Sansweet told an audience that the upcoming DVD of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones will include 8 deleted scenes. The scenes will be separated from the feature, not edited in. Also, the revolutionary digital version of the film will be used, which should make the video quality better than anything we’ve seen before.
