Olmos: Don’t watch Galactica if you’re a purist
by Doc on Jul.12, 2003, under General News
In an amazing talk in from of the Television Critics Association that probably has some of the producers a bit on edge, Edward James Olmos, who plays Adama in the upcoming Battlestar Galactica remake on SCI FI, said that if you are a die-hard fan of the original, that he “would not advise them to watch this program. It will hurt them . . .”. Apparently only the starting premise really has been preserved – humans see their homeworld destroyed, and decide to continue to fight. Beyond that, forget about following the original series.

Good!
At least now, there’s a chance it won’t suck!

Very good
Let’s face it. While the original’s idea and basic premise had promise, the bulk of the episodes were all cheese. The most redeeming aspect of the original series (and its spin off … remember that?) was its dark tone, so I’m heartened to hear that this series will delve deeper.

You are presumably refering to ‘Galactica 1980’, a rather dodgy series where the Galactica reaches Earth and members of the crew have little dictionary devices because they all speak English but some words are different ‘Whats a dog? Oh, its a …’
What was it that they called dogs?
My memory ain’t what it used to be…
