GateAngel writes “Lexa Doig who has joined the cast of Stargate: SG-1 for season 9 as Dr. Carolyn Lamm the civilian CMO of the SGC, also has a recurring role on the New USA hit series The 4400, playing a teacher. Read more about it and see an image gallery from her first episode ‘Voices Carry’ at http://www.totallyshanks.net“ Looks like Lexa is filling up her schedule to keep busy.
GateAngel writes “According to the article on page 55 of the new official scifi magazine “The
Stars Are Ours’ about the addition of the new cast members, Michael Shanks has apparently been replaced in Season 9… by some guy named Daniel Jackson! Yep, according to the article the new cast members will be joining Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge and Daniel Jackson on the show.
On the bright side, if you’ve met Michael Shanks..but never had the opportunity to meet Daniel Jackson in person, you have a chance to win a walk on part on SG1 and SGA. The URL for the contest is the same as the for last year http://www.scifi.com/getinthegate and internet access to the new contest is set to commence on the premiere date of both series, which is July 15, 2005 and will run until 8/27/05″ …When I win this time, I’ll keep a running blog.. 🙂

A Dalek, believe to be an original prop, was stolen from Wookey Hole Caves in Wells, England, and apparently being held for ransom. The “plunger” weapon was left behind with a note that read, “We are holding the Dalek captive. We demand further instructions from the Doctor. For the safety of the human race we have disarmed and removed its destructive mechanism,” signed by “Guardians of the Planet Earth”. Publicity stunt or prank?
SCI FI Wire has in its News Briefs sidebar that Lexa Doig (Rommie/Andromeda on Andromeda) will have a recurring role in the upcoming ninth season of Stargate SG-1 as Dr. Carolyn Lam, the new Chief Medical Officer in the SGC, and the daughter of General Landry (Beau Bridges, joining as a regular character). I hadn’t heard this before, so I checked Gateworld which also didn’t have it, but a Lexa fan site has the news as far back as February. Lexa is the wife of Michael Shanks (Dr. Daniel Jackson).
Dana Elcar, who played Mac’s friend and boss Pete Thornton on MacGyver, passed away June 6th after complications from pneumonia. He was 77. Dana suffered from glaucoma, which took away his eyesight while acting in the series. They even wrote it into his character, and both eventually became completely blind before he left the show.
Two actors from the Gerry Anderson live action show UFO passed away this week, coincidentally within days of each other. Ed Bishop (Commander Straker) died June 8th just short of his 73rd birthday, and Michael Billington (Colonel Paul Foster) died on June 3rd at the age of 63 after having battled cancer for quite some time.
Another release for Tuesday, Stargate Atlantis – Rising provides the entire two-part premiere episode for Stargate Atlantis, along with a few extras. Read More for my review.
