Star Trek in HD and CGI?

A broadcast syndication package has been shopped around by CBS Paramount for the original Star Trek series – and now we (apparently) know why: it’s getting a makeover. Details are still questionable, but reportedly it will include all new CGI-rendered space sequences and an HD transfer. Perhaps they can fix all the consistency problems with phasers vs. photon torpedos?
