More Futurama finally – on DVD first

by on Mar.13, 2007, under Television

Futurama WILL finally return to television, after having been cancelled in 2002 and momentarily revived – but according to creator Matt Groening, it will be on DVD first. 16 episodes will be produced, being split among 4 DVDs with the first, FUTURAMA: BENDER?S BIG SCORE coming first in December. Then the episodes will be “reconfigured” and appear on Comedy Central.

    “reconfigured”

What’s that? `Adjusted for content and to fit within the time provided?’

      Re:”reconfigured”

Basically. I suppose there could be content editing, since they can get away with far more on DVD than they can on TV, but given the lengths that doesn’t seem like they have too much wiggle room. It probably just means cut into equal lengths of the right size, with credits bolted on each end and commercial break points inserted.
