The BBC series Survivors, which ran from 1975-1977, is getting the remake treatment to air on BBC One this fall, with it possibly appearing on BBC America at a later time. The original show was based on a novel by Terry Nation (best known as the creator of the Daleks, along with Blake’s 7), and dealt with a post-apocalyptic world after a virus decimates the world population. Among the cast will be Freema Agyeman, who most recently did stints as Martha Jones on both Doctor Who and Torchwood.
Want to see SF classics like 2001: A Space Odyssey and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial? Mark Cuban wants to bring them to you on his HDNet network. It also appears he wants to provide some original “character-driven, well-acted movies” in the SF&F and horror genres.
