by Doc on Dec.16, 2008, under Movies
It’s been over a year since the director was announced, but now the much anticipated Tron 2 has its first two cast signings, with Olivia Wilde (House M.D.) and Beau Garrett (Made of Honor, 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer) joining the cast.

Actor Robert Carlyle (Eragon, The Full Monty) has been cast in the lead role of Dr. David Rush in the upcoming SCI FI Channel Stargate spinoff, Stargate Universe. Dr. Rush tries to unlock the mysteries of the Ancient ship they land on after escaping an attack on their base through a Stargate, but it appears that getting back home isn’t his only motive…

by Doc on Dec.15, 2008, under Television
The first webisode lead-in to the final episodes of Battlestar Galactica is now online. Read More to see it. “The Face of the Enemy: While on his way to get some R&R Gaeta’s Raptor makes an unexpected detour.” Update 12/16: I now have the episode on our YouTube Channel, and its embedded in the article itself, so maybe our non-US viewers can see it now…
Back on the air…

Although the site wasn’t down, I was…no power for 58 hours. Still picking up the pieces, so it may be a day or two before there are any updates…
Some Sci-Fi TV Store updates
by Doc on Dec.10, 2008, under Video/DVD
Just making some updates to the Sci-Fi TV Store as I find out about new items, if you are looking for some more holiday gifts (or some late ones): Serenity is getting a Blu-Ray release (although not until Dec. 30th); TekWar – The Series is already out on DVD – no sign of the TV movies though; A new Special Collector’s Edition of the classic Doctor Who mega-serial “Key to Time” is coming out next March; Those Lexx fans out there who perhaps don’t have all the “Season 1” TV movies can now get all 4 movies in one DVD pack; and Thunderbirds fans may want to know about the new lower priced 40th Anniversary Collectors Edition Mega Set.
Video of Beverly Garland describing Not of this Earth
by Doc on Dec.10, 2008, under General News
The Thunder Child writes “I’m somewhat hesitant to share the following videos, as they are, very embarrasingly, sideways, but as Beverly Garland has just passed away, I thought I would share them, and request your indulgence. http://dailyspace.blogspot.com/2008/12/beverly-gar land-at-williamsburg-film.html. She was at the Williamsburg Film Festival a couple of years ago, and was very fun and vivacious, and I videoed her talk on Not of this Earth. And I had a brand new digital camera, first one I’d ever had, and didn’t know it’s limitations. So turn your head sideways, and watch and listen…”
Humor: “The Ten Least Successful Holiday Specials of All Time”
by Doc on Dec.10, 2008, under Fun Stuff
This is a fun little article, The Ten Least Successful Holiday Specials of All Time. Although some of it may be lost on most, the bit about The Lost Star Trek Christmas Episode: “A Most Illogical Holiday” sounds familiar…
It’s that time of year again…
by Doc on Dec.08, 2008, under Sci-Fi Storm
…where I do what I hate most, and remind people who plan on purchasing items from Amazon to use our provided links, or patronize any other sponsor you might see…it really is our only source of income for the site, and at that generally pays the cost of the electricity of the server…by the way, for X-Files fans, I’ve added the Blu-Ray and DVD releases for I Want To Believe to the X-Files section of Sci-Fi TV Store, and hope to have a review soon…
I Am Legend prequel being mulled
by Doc on Dec.08, 2008, under Movies
A prequel to the Will Smith sci fi thriller I Am Legend is being considered, according to star Will Smith. A sequel (at least involving his character) would be impossible (although an alternate ending that was filmed and available on the DVD/Blu-Ray release would have allowed it), so a prequel about the virus outbreak and the fall of Manhattan is being envisioned. I’m not sure how they’d be able to make a compelling story that has a known and less-than-inspiring ending…
