Lord Of The Rings lawsuit settled
by Doc on Sep.08, 2009, under Movies
The lawsuit between the Tolkien Estate and New Line Cinema over profits from the three movies has been settled. The estate had sued for $150 million, claiming that New Line failed to pay them 7.5% of the gross receipts, and also sought to revoke rights to any other Tolkien works, including The Hobbit, but with the settlement in place New Line and MGM can move forward with the adaptation as planned.
