Fox apparently tweets that Serkis will play Ceasar in Apes
by Doc on Jun.30, 2010, under Movies
A twitter account reportedly representing 20th Century Fox (I dislike the fact that you can’t really verify the source) reported that Andy Serkis will play Caesar in the upcoming Rise Of The Apes prequel, and a lot of news outlets are expecting that he will use his motion-capture prowess in yet another digitally created role – although the tweet does not mention this specifically, only that he will be teaming up once again with Weta, the digital shop that worked on Lord Of The Rings and helped create Gollum, the role most associated with Serkis.
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to…the Daleks?
by Doc on Jun.29, 2010, under Fun Stuff
Clever, and hilarious…better if you saw the original Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy TV program…(this was supposed to have been posted yesterday, but there was apparently an error…)
Latest Deathly Hallows trailer
by Doc on Jun.29, 2010, under Movies
Here is the latest trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows trailer, covering both parts. It is rapid fire shots from scenes, but in it you get an idea of how expansive it is…
SyFy off the deep end? Gibson and Tiffany to battle in movie
by Doc on Jun.24, 2010, under Television
I admit it…I heard this through another channel and seriously thought it was a joke, but apparently not: Tween sensations (before they were called tweens) Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, long after the tabloid stories of rivalry have faded, will put a new rivalry on the small screen as they will appear in a new SyFy shlocker, Mega Python vs. Gatoroid. Seriously. I didn’t make this up. I can’t even call these B movies any more. At least a B movie I might want to watch…

From the prequels to the sequels, the Star Wars films have revealed to their audience the history and creation of Darth Vader. Lithgow, Pinto join Apes cast, plot points revealed
by Doc on Jun.23, 2010, under Movies
Fox has announced the casting of John Lithgow and Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) in the upcoming Rise Of The Apes, a re imagined prequel to the Planet Of The Apes franchise. Also mentioned is the plot, with Pinto playing a scientist testing a possible Alzheimer’s cure on apes, fueled by her desire to help her Alzheimer’s suffering dad (Lithgow). The tests result in Caesar, who develops intelligence rapidly.
Lost epilogue to be released with DVD
by Doc on Jun.23, 2010, under Television
Michael Emerson (Ben) had some time back on an episode of Attack Of The Show mentioned that there was an 11 minute “epilogue” of sorts that covers what happened to Ben and Hurley after they were left on the island “in charge”. Now it appears that that epilogue will be released on the Lost: The Complete Collection [sfs=1019]Blu-ray[/sfs] and [sfs=1020]DVD[/sfs] releases (it is not know if it will be in the Season 6 [sfs=1018]Blu-ray[/sfs] and [sfs=1017]DVD[/sfs] release). The epilogue is entitled, “The New Man In Charge”.
SyFy offering to let viewers create B movies
by Doc on Jun.22, 2010, under Television
The channel that gave us Mega Piranha and Dinocroc vs. Supergator may have bitten off more than it can chew. The network is creating a new production site called “B Movie Mogul” (no sign of it yet) where fans will get to pitch ideas and be involved in the creative process, and create the ultimate “script by committee”. But really, this could be the chance for a good movie…
The virtual Sci-Fi Airshow
by Doc on Jun.21, 2010, under Fun Stuff
The following site may have been done with Photoshop, but it sure looks cool…the Sci-Fi Airshow is certainly an air show I’d attend, even if none of the stuff actually flew. I hope some more ships are included soon, and higher-res pictures. I mean, who’s really seen a Mark IX Hawk up close?
Made-for-sharing series Pioneer One debuts
by Doc on Jun.20, 2010, under Web Sites
The SF series Pioneer One debuted recently. What is fairly unique about it is that the first episode was produced for only $6,000, raised entirely through micro-funding, and the videos are meant to be shared – through BitTorrent and other P2P services like Limewire. Further donations are also solicited to produce the rest of Season 1, which is planned for seven full episodes.
