The Hobbit possibly close to a green light, but fire at studio
by Doc on Oct.02, 2010, under Movies
The LA Times is reporting that Warner Bros./New Line and MGM are very close to giving the green light for production of The Hobbit, having resolved or nearly resolved remaining rights issues and finalized the necessary deals. If production starts by the 1st quarter of next year, then they could still hit their target of the first movie’s release for the 2012 holiday season, with the second a year later.
But now a fire apparently broke out at Portsmouth Miniatures Studio, one of the stage locations where The Hobbit was to be filmed. The cause of the fire is under investigation and the extent of damage is unknown.
Wonder Woman may return on small screen
by Doc on Oct.02, 2010, under Television
After years of Joel Silver trying to bring Wonder Woman to the big screen, and Joss Whedon bowing out of writing it in 2007 after conflicts over the vision, we may finally see a new incarnation of Wonder Woman – but on the small screen instead. What is strange is that it has a seemingly unlikely producer/writer attached: David E. Kelley, the Boston lawyer-turned-TV writer/producer responsible for legal dramas like L.A. Law, The Practice, Boston Legal, Ally McBeal and Picket Fences. So, Diana is going to moonlight as a lawyer this time around?
