Syfy hosting a Face Off event in LA tomorrow

Just found out about this – if you are in the Los Angeles area and want to see some of the best makeup artists in action, Syfy will be throwing a live demonstration of its upcoming Face Off show at The Grove tomorrow (Thursday, January 20th, 2011) starting at 12:30pm PT, where the artists will transform models into the likeness of Mother Earth. SYFY CELEBRATES ITS NEW COMPETITION REALITY SERIES, FACE OFF, WITH A LIVE EVENT AT THE GROVE
THURSDAY, JANUARY 20 AT 12:30 P.M.
WHO: Syfy’s Face Off, a new competition reality series that will showcase the artistry of special FX make-up, exploring the world of these pros and the unlimited imagination which allows them to create amazing works of living art. The series will introduce 12 up-and-coming SFX make-up artists who will face off in a series of elaborate challenges from imagining an entirely new species to conceptualizing a creature that would inhabit a newly discovered planet. It all culminates in one winner and one $100,000 grand prize that will launch a career.
As a member of the multi-generational family dynasty whose name is synonymous with the make-up effects field, actress McKenzie Westmore brings poise and expertise to her role as host of the series. Judging the competition are some of the most renowned names in the SFX world — three-time Academy Award winner Ve Neill, famed special make-up effects artist Glenn Hetrick and creature designer/film director Patrick Tatopoulos. Their multi-disciplined approach and straight-forward constructive feedback will challenge the contestants and push them to the top of their game.
WHAT: A live demonstration of professional make-up artists creating incredible transformations. Attendees will witness the various stages of Hollywood special effects at work as live models are changed into fantastical representations of Mother Earth.
