Being Human preview: “There Goes The Neighborhood, Pt.1”
by Doc on Jan.13, 2011, under Television
I have a couple more clips of the upcoming Syfy version of Being Human. The first is the official preview for the premiere episode, “There Goes The Neighborhood, Part 1”, where Aidan and Josh have just moved into their apartment, and discover that there may already be a tenant…
The second one showcases various aspects of the feel of the show – drama, action, comedy, and horror, all in one, with the cast describing the setting.
Being Human begins Monday, January 17th, at 9PM ET.
Gerry Anderson says “Thunderbirds are GO!”
by Doc on Jan.12, 2011, under Television
There weren’t a whole lot of details, but at a BBC press conference for a line of stamps based on Gerry Anderson’s various “Supermarionation” shows like Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet And The Mysterons, and others, Anderson said: “I am going to make a new series of Thunderbirds. And that’s official.” Now that the bird is out of the bag, hopefully more details will follow…
I still want to see what can be done with Space: 1999…
Ian McKellan WILL return as Gandalf!
by Doc on Jan.10, 2011, under Movies
Well, that didn’t take long…now THR is reporting that Ian McKellan has signed on to return as Gandalf in The Hobbit films. Although long expected, no word had been received until just now, which left some scratching their heads…at this point, any other signings will be just bonus cameos…
Two more sneak peeks at Syfy’s Being Human
by Doc on Jan.10, 2011, under Television
I’ve got two brand new clips from the upcoming US version of Being Human…first up is a look at the story and characters, as presented by the actors. Then find out which you would choose to be – a vampire, a werewolf, or a ghost…
Serkis to return as Gollum in The Hobbit
by Doc on Jan.10, 2011, under Movies
It looks like another of the long-rumored Lord Of The Rings actors has closed the deal on reprising their role in The Hobbit. Deadline reports that Andy Serkis (Gollum) has closed his deal to appear in the films, although confirmation is still pending. I will point out, however that despite rampant reports, Ian McKellan has NOT been confirmed yet (Update: yes he has, finally), nor has Christopher Lee or Ian Holm – although all three are expected. There were recent rumblings of Orlando Bloom returning to play Legolas, but I haven’t heard more on that front.
Speaking of returning characters, TheOneRing.net reports that Frodo will be seen in the opening scenes, likely as part of a narrative where Frodo is reading Bilbo’s “There And Back Again” story, which is pretty much what most expected.
Merlin preview: “The Tears of Uther Pendragon Part 2″
by Doc on Jan.10, 2011, under Television
Merlin goes to check on Morgana but knows he must get back to Arthur as he is in the midst of battle. Cenred and Morgause look on the war from afar in delight of the chaos. In Merlin’s search for Arthur, he is nearly consumed by a flying fire ball until he has to make some heat of his own.
“The Tears of Uther Pendragon Part 2″ airs Friday night at 10pm ET on Syfy
Elijah Wood WILL be in The Hobbit
by Doc on Jan.08, 2011, under Movies
There were lots of articles that took speculation and reports that Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom were in talks to reprise their respective Lord Of The Rings role in The Hobbit as fact that they were returning, but I did apparently miss this report that Wood’s reps have confirmed the actor is confirmed “to star”:

David E. Kelley’s Wonder Woman gets shelved
by Doc on Jan.08, 2011, under Comics, Television
All the major networks appear to have passed up David E. Kelley’s spec script for a modern take on Wonder Woman, and it appears unlikely anyone else will pick it up due to the expected costs. Deadline has the best analysis as to why each likely passed on it. ABC’s parent Disney now owns Marvel, while Wonder Woman is a DC Comics product, which is owned by Warner Bros. – but CW, jointly owned by CBS and WB, couldn’t afford it. It isn’t dead yet though, but in cold storage – Kelley could thaw it out a later time when the situation improves.
More Torchwood news: the title is now Torchwood: Miracle Day
by Doc on Jan.07, 2011, under Television
Torchwood is a moving target today, but at Television Critics Association press conference a short time ago, Russell T. Davies revealed some details about the upcoming new season of Torchwood – including a new title. It is now Torchwood: Miracle Day, and on that day everyone stops dying. ““No one quite dies,” according to Davies. “The Earth relies on people dying. It’s a crisis affecting everyone in the world.” Hmm…sounds like there could be a little Captain Jack in all of us?
Torchwood: The New World starts July 1st…or not
by Doc on Jan.07, 2011, under Television
BBC One and Starz have jointly announced that the premiere for Torchwood: The New World will take place on both channels on July 1st, 2011 at 9PM (I’m guessing for both channels in their respective time zones).
Update: The BBC is now denying the start date…stay tuned…
