Spider-Man on Broadway to be delayed – UPDATED
by Doc on Mar.09, 2011, under General News
The troubled Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark may stay in the dark for a few more months, as anonymous sources report an approximately three month delay in the opening – which is currently scheduled for next Tuesday. This could partly be to find a new director, as it was earlier reported that producers have been in talks with Julie Taymor about leaving the production.
The production has been plagued by problems due to the high-risk stunts and equipment issues, with several actors receiving serious injuries.
Updated 3/10: Looks like Taymor is out as director, but will still be involved, after the producers officially announced the delay to allow the time necessary to execute the plan, which will include revisions to the script,” according to the statement. The official opening date was not given, just “early summer”.

by Doc on Mar.09, 2011, under Television
In the next all-new episode of Stargate Universe, Dr. Rush sees the shipmates have assembled without him knowing to discuss what Eli is doing with the communication stones. Rush assures them that Eli is not an astrophysicist and that the mathematics are beyond comprehension when incorporating the pressures involved within a star. Camile is clearly trying to defend Eli’s abilities while Colonel Telford is proclaiming Rush is just nuts. Rush requests the opportunity to brief the ship on why he says he has no option by to stay aboard while the rest all say they have no option but to leave. Colonel Young gives him the chance and appears to be standing alongside Rush to both Camile’s and Telford’s surprise. Watch the clip and tune in Monday at 10/9c on Syfy to hear how Rush will break down the logistics to the crew.
FYI, Brian Jacob Smith (Lt. Scott) says this is his favorite of the final 10 episodes…

by Doc on Mar.08, 2011, under Television
A lot of debates have sprouted up recently regarding serialized shows, which have become more prevalent on the networks, and the long hiatus mid-stream they often experience which seems to sap their audience. Last night’s return of The Event is another data point in the argument: it was down a whopping 26% in the overnight ratings over its last original episode. With the networks trying various strategies to set up the programming, why can’t they figure out a way to program a serial drama?

Warehouse 13 Allison Scagliotti will join live episode of Destination Truth
by Doc on Mar.08, 2011, under Television
Just learned this while prepping another article: Warehouse 13‘s Allison Scagliotti, who last Halloween helped Destination Truth‘s Joshua Gates host a 6-hour live episode of Ghost Hunters, will join Gates yet again, this time for the special live episode of his own show, Destination Truth, which searches for the legendary Banshee in Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day. As Allison hasn’t said she’d pick me up on the way there, I guess I’ll be watching on my couch with a Guinness in hand.

Merlin preview: “Love in the Time of Dragons”
by Doc on Mar.07, 2011, under Television
In the next sneak peek clip of the next all-new episode of Merlin, Arthur looks to use Merlin for his own target practice. Merlin clearly doesn’t have his head on straight, but then again, he’s probably much better suited for another activity. When Merlin seems to be holding something back, Arthur tries to drag out more information from him to then hear the Merlin and Gaius have had a falling out. Arthur tries to tell him to let it simply blow over and encourages him with a brotherly blow to the arm. Merlin doesn’t exactly understand the meaning since he claims the knights might be a little thick in receiving the same encouragement. This response only deserves another blow from Arthur. Watch the clip and tune in on Friday at 10/9c on Syfy to see if Merlin can settle the falling out, and if Arthur can give him some real advice.
