CBS finds its Sherlock for Elementary
by Doc on Feb.14, 2012, under Television
Jonny Lee Miller (Eli Stone) has reportedly been tapped to play Sherlock Holmes in the pilot for CBS’ modern day retelling of Sherlock Holmes, called Elementary. The script for the pilot comes from Robert Doherty (Medium), who will produce along with Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly (Justified), with Michael Cuesta (Homeland) directing.
An interesting bit of trivia about this casting – Miller was recently playing the monster on stage in London for an adaptation of Frankenstein, which was split with another actor – Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Sherlock Holmes in the BBC’s modern-day version, Sherlock – and the producers of that version are not happy about the CBS version…

The Walking Dead breaks records in return
by Doc on Feb.13, 2012, under Television
The Walking Dead returned last night from the mid-season break and the heartbreaking ending it left viewers with to huge numbers, pulling in 8.1 million viewers for the main airing, and a total of 10.1 million including the two encore airings, hitting a series high. Perhaps more amazing is that it did this against the Grammy Awards, which were the second most watch Grammys ever on television.
Jace Hall answers some questions about Space: 2099
by Doc on Feb.12, 2012, under Television
Just a few days ago news broke that a Space: 1999 reboot was in development in the form of Space: 2099…and already executive producer Jace Hall has graciously answered some of our questions about the project! Jace and his company, HDFILMS, have partnered with ITV Studios America on the production, which will update the classic ITV production.
SFS: There have been many grass-roots efforts on updating Space: 1999 over the years, even using the name “Space: 2099”, but this appears to be the
first with buy-in from the studios – why is the time right to bring back this classic show?
Jace: My general belief is that any time is ALWAYS the right time to bring a truly compelling story to audiences. From my perspective, the timing of a new Space: 1999 franchise related project coming into existence has primarily related to ITV being presented with a concept that they could feel strongly enough about to warrant and authorize the effort. Now finally, that time has come and we hope to work closely with them to bring something engaging to audiences!
