Munsters reboot gets Herman, and maybe Lily

NBC’s pilot reboot of The Munsters, Mockingbird Lane, finally has a Herman and Lily Munster…or, at least, a Herman. Jerry O’Connell (Sliders) has been tapped for the role of Herman Munster, the clumsy patriarch and Frankenstein of the movie-monster-merged family.
The twist is that Mariana Klaveno (True Blood), who has been chosen to play matriarch Lily Munster, is currently committed to an ABC pilot, Devious Minds, which is now being considered for pickup by Lifetime. Klaveno had only a minor role in the pilot but is still under contract, and ABC Studios, which is the show’s producer, isn’t budging – even with NBC offering to allow her a recurring role on Devious Minds so long as they have priority.
Previously announced castings are comedian Eddie Izzard (United States of Tara) as Grandpa Munster; Mason Cook (Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D ) as 10-year-old werewolf son Eddie; and Charity Wakefield (The Raven) as the “normal” cousin.
