Due to Syfy deciding not to air the scheduled episode of Haven on Friday, and the serial nature of the show, Syfy has also decided to postpone this Friday’s Season 3 finale and air both episodes back-to-back on Thursday, January 17th, from 8pm-10pm ET/PT.
Check out what some of your favorite Syfy say their favorite – and weirdest – gifts on the holidays are, what their New Years resolutions are, and what their favorite holiday specials are! Jaleel White (Total Blackout), Julie Benz (Defiance), Saul Rubinek and Allison Scagliotti (Warehouse 13), Kristen Hager (Being Human), and Rachel Nichols (Continuum).
Check out the prequel webisode for the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas Special, “The Snowmen”. This prequel is entitled “Vastra Investigates”, and features three returning characters: Vastra, the Silurian who helps Scotland Yard in Victorian times (Sherlock Holmes style), her assistant (and lover) Jenny, and Strax, the Sontaran nurse.
Does anyone else see a spinoff series in the making? Hmm…and check out the latest trailer afterwards!
Here is the latest trailer for Star Trek: Into Darkness – this is the one that we saw attached to the non-IMAX version of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey this past weekend:
One of my favorite fantasy movies, Willow, will get the [asin=B000Y5JFNE]Blu-ray treatment[/asin] for its 25th anniversary! Starring Warwick Davis (Harry Potter, Life’s Too Short) and Val Kilmer (Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, Top Gun) and directed by Ron Howard (The da Vinci Code, Cocoon), it gollows the travels of the diminutive Nelwyn amateur wizard Willow Ufgood (Davis) as he tries to help the Daikini (human) baby Elora Danan fulfill a prophesy and defeat the evil Bavmorda (Jean Marsh, Upstairs, Downstairs).
Check out the trailer and the the full details, which includes all sorts of extras including never before seen footage!
Willow will be [asin=B000Y5JFNE]released on Blu-ray on March 12th, 2003[/asin].
Merlin will return on Friday, January 4th at 10/9c on Syfy to begin the U.S. airing of its fifth and final season. Syfy also announced the launch of Merlin: The Game in the U.S.
From the press release:
Syfy will say good-bye to Camelot when the fifth and final season of Merlin returns Friday, January 4 at 10PM (ET/PT) with 13 all-new episodes.
Because tonight’s scheduled episode of Haven involved violence at a school, in light of recent events Syfy has elected not to air the episode as scheduled. No plans have been made as to if/when the episode will air. The holiday episode of Eureka, “Do You See What I See?” will air in its place.
Speaking about Sam Witwer, catch this video of creator/producer/showrunner/writer Anna Fricke talk about casting the role of the vampire Aidan and Sam Witwer…
Here is a sneak peek at tomorrow night’s Haven episode, when Duke relives his teenage years a little too literally and Audrey and Nathan scramble to find the culprit…”Reunion” airs Friday at 10/9c on Syfy!
[Programming note: This episode will not be shown as scheduled. No word on when this episode will air]
I had the fortune of talking with Being Human‘s Sam Witwer, who plays the vampire Aidan, ahead of Being Human‘s Season 3 premiere next month on January 14th on Syfy. We talked about Being Human, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, and how he originally turned down the audition for Being Human because it was for the role of a vampire…
