Speaking of the Guardians of the Galaxy, which opens this weekend, Marvel also announced the Guardians SDCC panel featuring star Chris Pratt and director James Gunn that they have already set a sequel for the movie, which is slotted for July 28, 2017.
Thanks to Warner Bros. via SDCC, here is a first look at Arrow Season 3
With less than a week to the premiere of the live action flick which is to herald a new phase in Marvel’s transition of comics to other media, earlier today at SDCC Marvel announced that Guardians of the Galaxy will get an animated series as well, to air on Disney XD at a time/date to be determined later. They did show a 1 minute teaser featuring Skylord and Rocket. Marvel unfortunately didn’t give any further details, but no one seemed to mind…
I may not be at San Diego Comic-Con (yet again…some day…) but I do have eyes there, and they tell me that at the Marvel panel they announced that Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess, Spartacus) will be joining Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as a long-time S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. British actor Nick Blood (Trollied) and Reed Diamond (Moneyball, Dollhouse) will also join the cast in Season 2.

While most of the attention has focused on next year’s release and current production of Star Wars Episode VII, there is still another production that is only a few months away from hitting the smaller screen…Star Wars Rebels debuts on Disney XD in October…
Sir Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs, Thor) is climbing on board his first potential TV role in the pilot for Westworld, based on the classic 1973 movie by Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park).
Hopkins will play Dr. Robert Ford, the head of the fantasy park who has “unorthodox methods” for building his vision.
Evan Rachel Wood (True Blood, The Wrestler) will play Dolores Abernathy, “a sweet, Midwestern farm girl who has a very rude awakening during the series.”
Jonathan Nolan (Person of Interest, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises and the upcoming Interstellar) will direct from a script by himself and Lisa Joy (Burn Notice), with both producing alongside J.J. Abrams (Lost, Star Wars Episode VII), Jerry Weintraub (Ocean’s Eleven) and Bryan Burk (Revolution).
Check out the video below from J.J. Abrams – not just for a peek at what is the next generation X-Wing fighter that will be appearing in Star Wars: Episode VII, but also for the message…there are only 4 days left to participate in Star Wars: Force for Change to help raise funds for UNICEF, and in doing so you not only can get some nice Star Wars swag, but also get entered for a chance to win a trip to London as J.J.’s VIP guest and even be in a scene from the movie! You are also entered to win a private showing of Episode VII in your home town!
I’m a Force for Change…are you?
TNT announced that it has given a second season of 13 episodes to Michael Bay’s freshman apocalyptic show The Last Ship, after a strong showing, with a Live+7 viewership of 7.2 million and strong demos in the desirable categories. This could help fill the void that would otherwise be felt when Falling Skies ends, as the the producers of the show have elected to wrap it up with a final 10 episode fifth season, where it has been holding about 5.5 million viewers.
