Just hours before the season finale airs in the U.S., Syfy announced that it has renewed freshman show Helix for a second season of 13 episodes. Production is expected to start later this year, with it likely to premiere in Winter 2015.

Bill McGoldrick, EVP of Original Content at Syfy, said, “Helix has built one of our most loyal and consistent audiences in its first season on Syfy. The incredibly talented writing and producing team have crafted a thriller that consistently delivered suspense, twists and high quality drama. We look forward to growing this passionate audience in what promises to be an even more memorable second season.”

Helix premiered on January 10, 2014, as the top cable scripted entertainment program in the time period, and helping Syfy rank as the #2 cable entertainment network among both Adults 25-54 (1.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.3 million). Mark Hamill to appear at Star Wars Weekends at Walt Disney World

by on Mar.20, 2014, under Fun Stuff, Movies

Just announced today, and I believe the first celebrity announcement aside from James Arnold Taylor returning as host, is a big one…for the first time ever, Star Wars‘ own Luke Skywalker will appear at Disney’s Hollywood Studios during Star Wars Weekends.

He will be there for one particular weekend – Weekend IV, which is June 6-8. He will take part in the daily “Legends of the Force” motorcade and “talk show”, and presumably (but not confirmed) he will be signing autographs at a few points during the day. If you’re hoping to snag an autograph, though, beware – Disney uses it’s FASTPASS system for celebrity autographs, giving them out just before the park opens for the day – and the lines can form very, very early in the morning for top guests…people reportedly lined up close to midnight for the next day for Billy Dee Williams last year.

Revolution, on the other hand, it still waiting for news and may be on the bubble.

Being Human showrunner Anna Fricke to take over Fox’s Hieroglyph, overall deal with 20th TV

by on Mar.19, 2014, under Television

Anna Fricke, who with her husband Jeremy Carver adapted the British Being Human for North American audiences and was showrunner for entire run which ends in a couple weeks, will now take over Fox’s straight-to-series project Hieroglyph, while also developing new projects for 20th TV. Set in ancient Egypt, where fantasy and reality intertwined, it follows Ambrose (Max Brown, Beauty And The Beast), a notorious thief who is plucked from prison to serve the Pharoah (Reece Ritchie, Hercules). Also starring in the show is John Rhys-Davies (Lord of the Rings).
