Quinto panics Trek fandom, clarifies
by Doc on Jan.29, 2010, under Movies
Zachary Quinto apparently set about a Trekkie-wide panic when a Wired Magazine interview came out when he said he’d be “stepping away from Star Trek for at least two years—no movies, no conventions, no anything for awhile.” Which concerned everyone because the next Star Trek movie is due out in a little more than two years – June 29th, 2012. So what did he mean? Apparently he didn’t mean not doing the actual movie. He clarified his statements on Twitter to say that he is indeed doing the next movie, but no Trek-related side projects while he works on other things.

Caprica slow out of the gate
by Doc on Jan.25, 2010, under Television
It looks like the airing of the pilot movie of Caprica on SyFy didn’t do so well, only getting 1.6 million viewers. The article does point out (and I believe rightly so) that the DVD release 9 months ago may have had an impact…but if you have been waiting for the series, the first new episode airs this Friday.

Primeval coming back but needs to solve problems
by Doc on Jan.21, 2010, under Television
We had already heard that ITV series Primeval was being rescued by added income from some international channels, although initially they said there would be two more series. Now it appears that they are at least for now planning one series of 13 episodes, but they still have some problems to solve – like getting some of the characters back from the past, and how to deal with cast departures as well (which isn’t unusual here). 3rd series star Jason Flemyng is committed elsewhere, but will return for a few episodes. Update: Correction that Primeval is an ITV not BBC series…
