Sci-Fi Storm closed for April Fools’ Day
by Doc on Apr.01, 2009, under Fun Stuff, Sci-Fi Storm
Why bother posting anything today? Most of the news is so far-fetched, you can’t tell what is real and what isn’t. And frankly, if it isn’t about who forgot the lyrics on Idol, or who got eaten by a lion on Survivor this week, who’s been fired, or what happened on C.S.I. Everywhere, you wouldn’t care. Although at least that last crop of shows have toys that qualify them to be called Science Fiction (and I’m serious about that). So rather than posting something that will make you keep asking if it is real or not, I might as well just keep my mouth shut.
Tomorrow look for my new site, Reality Storm. Starring Stephen Baldwin.
Star Trek sequel already in the works
by Doc on Mar.31, 2009, under Movies
It is still more than a month away before we REALLY get to see what J.J. has done to the franchise, but apparently a sequel is already moving forward. It is still in the early phases, with only the writing team ( Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof) and the producing team (J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk) and an “embryonic” story line, but they expect to be able to turn in a script by Christmas with an anticipated Summer 2011 release. This doesn’t mean that production can’t be stopped if the movie tanks…

Earthstorm on SciFi (or is it SyFy?) tonight…
by Doc on Mar.28, 2009, under Television
The SCI FI Channel is airing a string of movies with “Storm” in the title tonight: Earthstorm, Polar Storm, and Dark Storm. Now, of course I wouldn’t normally call out the typical SFC Saturday movie night fare (for good reason), and its certainly not because two of the three feature Stephen Baldwin, or the middle one has Jack Coleman (Noah Bennet, Heroes). But I learned from someone on a mailing list (thanks Fred!) about what has to be the best movie summary ever on Earthstorm…and watch out for the Rice Krispie space debris…I am so taping this to laugh later…

It appears the previous Caprica clips are no longer available, but here are eight new ones!
[Alas, these videos are no longer available either]
Moore speaks of alternate idea for Galactica ending
by Doc on Mar.27, 2009, under Television
Ronald D. Moore, among a series of posts on the SciFi BSG Forums, spoke about various aspects of the finale being discussed. One of the interesting ones (third post) puts forward an idea they had for an alternate fate for the Galactica itself – managing to crash land relatively intact on ancient Earth, and millennia later being found under some unexplained mounds (which really exist)…
