Changeling fast-tracked; Eastwood and Jolie involved

by on Mar.10, 2007, under Movies

JMS hasn’t been able to say much, with so many hot irons in the fire, but one just made it out. The Changeling, written by JMS and picked up by Imagine Entertainment, is being fast-tracked with Universal Pictures, Clint Eastwood is in talks to direct, and Angelina Jolie is in talks to star. Ron Howard intended to direct, but is tied up in two other films, so they called Eastwood. Howard and partner Brian Glazer will produce.

Star Trek XI is called Star Trek

by on Mar.09, 2007, under Movies

It may not stay that way, but Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci, who are writing the script, said in an interview for MTV.com that the upcoming film in the Star Trek franchise will be title, simply, Star Trek. No subtitle, no numbers or roman numerals or letters…”That’s the intended title. I don’t think we want to put any colons or anything on it,” Orci said. Online fans will need to have something to distinguish it (like calling the original series Star Trek: The Original Series or ST:TOS. I propose Star Trek: The Unnamed Movie, or ST:TUM for short. And depending on how good it is, perhaps ST:BADH (for Beating A Dead Horse).

The end of Captain America

by on Mar.07, 2007, under Comics

Marvel Comics Captain America is dead…at least for now. The patriotic alter ego of character Steve Rogers that debuted in 1941 during WWII meets his end, in an intentional similarity to events following 9/11. But is he really dead? He is, after all, a superhero, and they rarely stay that way…and I foresee the added publicity will raise the possibility of a feature film…

Film Journalist Steve Vertlieb Shares Anecdotes

by on Mar.01, 2007, under General News

TheThunderChild writes “Film journalist Steve Vertlieb has spent more than 40 years writing about film and TV makers – and indeed he’s interviewed a few, like William Shatner, and been friends with many more – from Buster Crabbe to Miklos Rozsa. Last year Steve shared many of his anecdotes with The Thunder Child science fiction ezine, and he’s done it again. Vertlieb is witty, self-deprecating, and entertaining. Best of all, we’ve put together both of his interviews as a FREE 54-page PDF, with some extra stuff about Vincent Price that doesn’t appear in the ezine article. http://thethunderchild.com/Interviews/Vertlieb.html is the URL which will take you to the 2007 interview. Click on the cover top right to download the free PDF. And enjoy.”
