She will be replaced with Sidse Babbett Knudsen (Borgen) as the head of operations. Eion Bailey will play Logan, a playboy of sorts who returns to Westworld to show his friend William (Jimmi Simpson, House of Cards) the park. Syfy’s 12 Monkeys starts Season 2 production Tuesday; Cast additions and promotions

by on Jul.11, 2015, under Television

Syfy’s critically-acclaimed time-travel thriller 12 Monkeys will commence Season 2 production on July 14 in Toronto, Canada. The new 13-episode season will air in Winter 2016 on Syfy, with Aaron Stanford (as time-traveler Cole), Amanda Schull (Dr. Cassandra Railly) and Kirk Acevedo (Ramse) reprising their starring roles.

In addition, it was announced today that Barbara Sukowa (Dr. Jones), Todd Stashwick (Deacon) and Emily Hampshire (Jennifer Goines) will also return, now appearing as series regulars. Sukowa’s Dr. Jones is a renowned physicist who, in an unapologetic quest to stop the plague, creates the time machine and recruits Cole to send him back into the past. Stashwick’s Deacon is the cunning and brutal leader of a deadly band of scavengers in 2043 called the West 7. And Hampshire’s Jennifer Goines is a brilliant and unpredictable mental patient with potential ties to the 12 Monkeys’ conspiracy to destroy the world with a deadly virus.

Michael Hogan (Battlestar Galactica) will also join the series as a guest star for a four episode arc, playing Dr. Vance Eckland, a charismatic and intelligent scientist from the future. He’s a comrade of Dr. Jones’ working alongside her at the temporal facility — who reveals that they may have a closer relationship than first meets the eye.

12 Monkeys is produced by Universal Cable Productions in association with Atlas Entertainment, who produced the original Golden Globe winning theatrical film.‎

Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett (Nikita) have been upped this season to Executive Producers and Showrunners with Charles Roven (Suicide Squad, American Hustle, Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Richard Suckle (Suicide Squad, American Hustle, The International) on board as Executive Producers.

Star Wars SDCC roundup

by on Jul.10, 2015, under Movies

The mystery Lucasfilm panel in Hall H was indeed for Star Wars (no surprise), but there were some surprises, such as Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford all being present for the panel along with all the new talent, and a behind-the-scenes sizzle reel that you can see below.

There wasn’t much surprising news…they are still editing the movie, with Disney giving them all the time they need. Lawrence Kasdan gave the nod to George Lucas for bringing him back on board, and the characters “never left his consciousness”, and he went “beserk” when he heard that J.J. Abrams was directing. The brought out a practical effects character, named “Bobbajo” or something like that, showing that they are doing all the practical effects they can with makeup and robotics, although CGI cannot be avoided. A flamethrower Stormtrooper and explosions shown were all real.

In the sizzle reel many of the actors can be seen. Simon Pegg is indeed appearing in the film, but it appears he will be in costume, so his face will not actually be seen. Peter Mayhew is back as Chewbacca and Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, but Warwick Davis, who originally played Wicket the Ewok but also other characters in the prequel trilogy, could be seen on set as well. The sizzle reel gives me goosebumps – this is REAL, folks!

Actors appearing in the panel at various times: John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendolyn Christie, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford.

Gleeson’s character is definitely evil. Apparently because he is British 🙂

Harrison Ford’s foot is fine…he said he walked to the hall.

And now, the sizzle reel…

Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion spoof themselves in Con Man

by on Jul.10, 2015, under Television

After breaking the Indiegogo crowdfunding record, web series Con Man is getting closer to release…Firefly stars Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion introduced the new trailer last night, which shows how they are spoofing their original roles together for the fictitious show “Spectrum”, and the two very different paths each take after the series is canceled in 2004 “foolishly” by an unnamed TV network…Wray Nerely (Tudyk), a down-on-his-luck actor trying to make a living on the convention circuit, and his co-star Jack Moore (Fillion), whose career soared.

Just the trailer is chock full with cameo and larger appearances by many well known genre actors and more – just a spot check shows Felicia Day, Sean Astin, Milo Ventimiglia, Seth Green, Henry Rollins, Tricia Helfer, Wil Wheaton, Michael Dorn, Amy Acker, and even Joss Whedon!
