Sci-Fi Storm

This is neat – Improv Everywhere is a NYC performance arts group that does improv around NYC, often filming it. Sometimes they recreate film scenes, and this time it’s the scene between Leia and Vader from Star Wars – on the NYC subway. Love the book, too…could use one of those.

Clever, and hilarious…better if you saw the original Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy TV program…(this was supposed to have been posted yesterday, but there was apparently an error…)

The following site may have been done with Photoshop, but it sure looks cool…the Sci-Fi Airshow is certainly an air show I’d attend, even if none of the stuff actually flew. I hope some more ships are included soon, and higher-res pictures. I mean, who’s really seen a Mark IX Hawk up close?

Surfers, tourists, and local Los Angelenos alike were stunned yesterday morning by a rather HUGE mystery: the discovery of 15 foot long footprints in the sand at Santa Monica Pier!

A local fisherman was perhaps the only person who caught a glimpse of the creature responsible. “Everything started shaking,” he said. “Then I saw this thing. Bigger than any whale…eyes dark and menacing, teeth as big as the poles under the pier here.” Police are cautioning people not to panic, and to be careful not to fall into the deep footprints on the beach. Residents and tourists are wondering what kind of monster could be responsible for footprints so massive.

In honor of today apparently being “Star Wars Day” (May The 4th Be With You) and this year being the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, you can now star in your own personal version of the movie, thanks to JibJab.

Starting June 11th, visitors to the Kennedy Space Center will get to see a live 30-minute show based on the Star Trek franchise which explores space age technology, and incorporates the audiences as new cadets at Star Fleet Academy.

I refrained from posting yesterday as it was too late in the day to come up with anything witty, and anything else wouldn’t be taken seriously. But the guys at ThinkGeek again came through. This time it was with the Dhama Initiative Alarm Clock. Now, they eventually came through with the Tauntaun Sleeping Bag, so just maybe…

It was brief and has since been changed, but the Grand Opening date for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure, which was supposed to be announced tomorrow, March 25th, was leaked on the park’s own web site as being June 18th. However, it appears that it will “soft open” on May 28th as USO has already started offering packages with arrivals that start on that date. Update 3/25: And its official…see the press release below.
