Massively multiplayer Stargate game in development?
by Doc on Jan.31, 2006, under Games
It seems a group called Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment is working on a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG – the style of Everquest and World of Warcraft) based around the Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis environments called Stargate Worlds. Beyond the announcement, there is little information as of yet though. Interestingly – by the press releases, they announced what they were doing before they actually had a license agreement with MGM, who owns the franchise.
Stargate SG-1 game cancelled?
by Doc on Jan.23, 2006, under Games
Apparently problems with the planned (and almost completed) game based on Stargate SG-1, Stargate SG-1: The Alliance, and its developer, Perception, have resulted in the cancellation of the game and perhaps the closing of Perception itself. Official word from Perception and/or MGM is expected soon.

New Star Wars trading card game
by Doc on Jan.04, 2002, under Games
The man who got me to unload lots of cash for bits of cardboard, Richard Garfield (creator of Magic: The Gathering) and producer Wizards of the Coast (now a division of Hasbro) managed a lucrative exclusive license to produce trading-card games based on the Star Wars universe, with the first release due in April, drawing from Episode II. I wasn’t much of a fan of the previous Star Wars CCG, but this could be more promising.

Sneak preview of pc gaming?
by Doc on Mar.22, 2001, under Games
rinkjustice writes “Electronic Arts has an innovative new multiplayer game called Majestic, which utilizes your browser, fax, instant messenger and even cell phone. Players apparantly weave their way through the internet, scouring for clues on real and bogus websites while computer-controlled characters message death threats! This seems to be pushing the boundaries most traditional games have obediently adhered to. Is this a foreshadowing of what gaming will be like in the future? What other pc games (proprietary or open source) utilize many different mediums and have a truly original concept?” Only mildly Sci-Fi-ish if at all, but I want to encourage submissions…
