Trek XI script done, ready to shoot

Well, the script is finally done, but they still are being tight-lipped about what it is about and who is in it. In fact, they haven’t even started casting the upcoming Star Trek XI movie, but they plan to start shooting in the fall. And Kirk is definitely in it…in some form. There are also some mumblings of the movie kicking off a series…

Next up on Marvel’s comics hero turned movie hero? Captain America, according to Marvel Studios production head Kevin Feige, who is currently producing Iron Man. And there is a report that Marvel is looking at the The Avengers as well, which could also feature the patriotic character.
Disney thinking ahead: Third Narnia film gets 2009 release

A little less than a year away from the release of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (currently set for May 16, 2008), Disney set the release for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader for May 1, 2009. Also mentioned: video game turned Bruckheimer movie, The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time opens July 10th, 2009, and a new Pixar feature named Up opens June 12, 2009.
Harry Potter release bumped up to midweek

Perhaps due to recent successful Wednesday openings, Warner Brothers has announced that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will open on Wednesday, July 11th, instead of Friday, July 13th.
Terminator lives on

Rights may have changed hands a few times, but plans for Terminator 4 as part of a whole new trilogy are to proceed after the rights were purchased by the Halcyon Co. The deal included the script for the 4th installment, and the new company hopes to have it out by the first half of 2009 – although no talent and no distributor have signed on.
Rodriguez to choose between Jetsons or Land of the Lost

Hmm…a live action The Jetsons movie, or a remake of Land of the Lost? That’s the choice Robert Rodriguez faces. Rodriguez has spoken with Warner Bros. about directing The Jetsons, but has also spoken to Universal about Land of the Lost, which has Will Ferrell attached, but we haven’t heard anything on that in two years, and is apparently not as far along with the script.

Raimi confirms talks about The Hobbit

After reports surfaced that Sam Raimi (Spider-Man 3) had been talking with New Line Cinema about taking the reins of The Hobbit, he confirmed with SCI FI Wire that he talked with studio head Robert Shaye about it, but it was only one conversation. He also confirmed that he would only sign for the film if it was OK with Peter Jackson, who is involved in a lawsuit against New Line.
