All but one of the crew of the Firefly are signed for two sequels – assuming Serenity proves to be a hit. Only Nathan Fillion (Capt. Malcolm Reynolds) wouldn’t confirm if he was signed, although Joss Whedon (creator/writer/director) said the entire cast was likely to return.

Moviefone is offering the latest trailer for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. In it you’ll see the arrival of the other schools, Viktor Krum, Fleur Delacour and Cho Chang, plus clips of the Tri-Wizard Tournament and what appears to be scenes from the Quidditch World Cup.

The official web site for the upcoming Serenity has been updated with a new look, and you can even join the Browncoats, put together a crew, get access to insider information, and gain credits towards merchandise. In Dreamworks’ upcoming animated adaptation of the comic strip Over The Hedge, William Shatner will voice the character of Ozzie the Possum – and will parody his own character of James T. Kirk and his own style of dramatic delivery, the staple of stand-up comics for years. Other celebs already giving life to characters include Garry Shandling (Verne the turtle), Bruce Willis (R.J. the raccoon), Steve Carell (Sammy the squirrel), Allison Janney (Gladys the human), Wanda Sykes (Stella the Skunk), Nick Nolte (Vincent the Bear), along with Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy.

It what is the first of three new planned movies in the Highlander franchise, Highlander: The Source will begin filming in October in Lithuania. It will star Adrian Paul as Duncan MacLeod, with Brett Leonard (Lawnmower Man) directing, and will reportedly deal with the origins of the Immortals and their “quest to locate the Holy Grail of their world.” Umm…I hope we are not talking about a return to Zeist…hasn’t everyone disavowed that movie?

A new trailer has gone up at the official Serenity web site. It’s looking pretty good. Time to catch up with the repeats on the SCI FI Channel.

A couple of updates to some movies we’ve been following: Logan’s Run is still in the sights of Joel Silver and Bryan Singer, and they are looking to start shooting as soon as Singer is done with Superman, with an eye towards filming in Berlin; and director Andrew Adamson announced at ComicCon that Liam Neeson will replace Brian Cox as the voice of Aslan in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

The Island, directed by Michael Bay (Armageddon) and starring Ewan McGregor (Star Wars) and Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation), opens in theaters July 22nd, but there is a public sneak preview this Saturday (7/9). Check your local theater listings. The premise: “Lincoln Six-Echo (McGregor) and Jordan Two-Delta (Johansson) are among the hundreds of residents of a contained facility in the mid-21st century. Like all of the inhabitants of this carefully controlled environment, everything about their day-to-day lives is monitored, seemingly for their own good. The only way out?and the hope they all share?is to be chosen to go to the The Island, reportedly the last uncontaminated spot in the world following an ecological disaster that took the lives of everyone on the planet?except them. Recently plagued by unexplained nightmares, Lincoln is restless and increasingly questioning of the restrictions placed on his life. But he is unprepared for the truth when his growing curiosity leads to the terrible discovery that everything about his existence is a lie, that The Island is a cruel hoax?and that he, Jordan and everyone they know are actually more valuable dead than alive.” Vaguely Logan’s Run-ish, but sounds promising. Showing that their tag line doesn’t apply to productions, Highlander 5 is set to start pre-production later this year, with Adrian Paul (Duncan MacLeod) as both star and executive producer. David Abramowitz, who wrote for the series, is finishing up the script, and Brett Leonard (The Lawnmower Man) will direct.
