by Doc on Oct.31, 2001, under Movies
fiziko writes “The Attack of the Clones trailer that officially premiers on Friday is available now in a downloadable MPEG through Bureau 42. Mirror early, mirror often.”
Update:: Yeah, fiziko got suckered. This is the infamous “fake” trailer, which includes edits of things, such as Braveheart doctored to look like an army of Jedi Knights…I had seen it before, but posted the note before actually looking at this one…

Two more Judge Dredd movies?
by Doc on Oct.23, 2001, under Movies
Dark Horizons had a minor blurb from Reuters that comic publisher 2000AD has signed a deal for two new Judge Dredd movies to be produced back-to-back. I doubt Stallone would be interested, but I did find the first one humorous…
Update: Sci-Fi Wire has more info from Variety: They are “taking it back to the edge and style of the original comic book,” (don’t they all say that?) with two movies, Judge Dredd: Dredd Reckoning and Judge Dredd: Possession.

Alien 5 back on the rumor mill
by Doc on Oct.15, 2001, under Movies
Seems Sigourney Weaver has been talking to Ridley Scott again. In an interview for Channel 4 (UK) and reported by the BBC, Weaver said they have been talking about a 5th Alien movie. Now, this has been often rumored before, and then denied. I think this is the first time a principle is on record…
Ringworld movie by Cameron?
by Doc on Oct.09, 2001, under Movies
Data is trickling in. According to our friends at Bureau42, Larry Niven has made a deal with James Cameron (Titanic, the Terminator movies) for a Ringworld movie. Coming Attractions has details as well. Apparently Niven himself announced it at Albacon this weekend, saying the deal came at 12:30AM Saturday morning…I hope I manage to finish the Encyclopedia of Known Space by then…
Update 10/10: It looks like this was false. Ain’t It Cool News says Niven’s agent is denying it.
Wolverine to be the 9th Doctor?
by Doc on Oct.03, 2001, under Movies
Coming Attractions reported about an interview in Look Magazine with Doctor Who #4, Tom Baker, in which he briefly spoke about the plans for a Doctor Who feature film being produced in conjunction with MGM/UA and the BBC. e says the next step is up to MGM, and BOTH want Hugh Jackman (Wolverine, X-Men) to play the doctor, but they are quibbling about the female lead – MGM’s for Famke Janssen (Dr. Jean Grey, X-Men) while the Beeb is pining for British actress Tara Fitzgerald (The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill…). I still haven’t been able to catch the TV movie with the 8th doctor…
