djryan writes “Author Harlan Ellison and director David Twohy are to collaborate on a movie version of Ellison’s classic Outer Limit’s script Demon With a Glass Hand for Dimension Films.
The script is set to be completed by June 2001, and Twohy (Pitch Black) will direct.”

BBC Plans Dr. Who Movies

djryan writes “Sci-Fi Weekly reports that the BBC is planning a series of feature films based on its long-running Dr. Who television series. The proposed Who movies are part of BBC director general Greg Dyke’s plans to involve the network in full-scale film production.
The BBC plans a movie version of Dr. Who, the SF series that first aired on the BBC in 1963, as well as sequels.”

MGM Announces Outer Limits and Stargate Movies

djryan writes “According to Variety, MGM will be producing movies based on The Outer Limits, a renewed Pink Panther series and a sequel to Stargate.
No specifics were given regarding how MGM will approach The Outer Limits, but it had already been revealed previously that a new remake of The Pink Panther was in the works, potentially with Kevin Spacey playing Clouseau.
The Stargate movie is a sequel based on the 1994 film so plans on whether the cast of the TV series will be used are not known.
All three potential franchises have been placed on the fast trcak at the studio with an eye towards theatrical release in at least 2002.
