PLUTO’S PLIGHT is a sci-fi comedy movie about a young girl who has visions of life on Pluto. Meanwhile, actual aliens have left their Solar System, because their star is going to Supernova. by Doc on Jul.30, 2007, under General News
Instead of joining in on all the fun of Comic-Con this year (I was invited to moderate a panel but couldn’t attend), I got at least a consolation prize – an advance copy of Babylon 5: The Lost Tales for review. So Read More for the no spoiler review – the Encyclopedia should be updated soon. Babylon 5: The Lost Tales will be released Tuesday. Check out the official web site for some previews as well.
Another Blade Runner DVD edition on its way
by Doc on Jul.27, 2007, under General News
It seems to be the philosophy of studios to keep re-releasing movies with more extras. This time though, there is more meat. Ridley Scott has edited Blade Runner one last time, to produce “The Final Cut”. There will be a low-cost two-disc Special Edition, and a full-bore 5 disc Ultimate Collector’s Edition complete with a “Deckard Briefcase”. The versions are expected to be out on December 18th. Limited Edition Blu-ray and HD-DVD releases of the Ultimate Collector’s Edition are expected as well, as well as a 4 disc “Collector’s Edition”.
Harry Potter over, but some questions still needed answering
by Doc on Jul.26, 2007, under General News
I haven’t posted in several days because I was – what else – reading Harry Potter. I couldn’t devote as much time as others, as I had to share the book, and something about work…at any rate, I’ll post more on the book in a bit. However for those who have read the book (and ONLY for those who read the book, as there be spoilers there – YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED) and also missed the Today show this morning, J.K. expanded a bit on the epilogue of the book that gave a brief, vague glance at some of the characters (and some new ones) after the climactic end of the story…and she may write an Encyclopedia to finish things off.

Just in time for The Blob Fest – the man who met The Blob
by Doc on Jul.06, 2007, under General News
TheThunderChild writes “Steve Vertlieb, film journalist extraordinaire, is a new columnist for The Thunder Child, writing a couple of articles a month in Vertlieb’s Views. First in July is How I Met The Blob, a reminiscence of a few decades ago when he and his brother journeyed to California to meet not only Forry Ackerman for the first time, but also Wes Shank, owner of The Blob. http://thethunderchild.com/Movies/VertliebViews/Ve rtliebBlob.html is the URL. It’s perfect timing, because the Blob Fest is happening in Pennsylvania in just another week – with their annual Run Screaming Out of the Theater re-enactment.”
