by Doc on Oct.19, 2006, under General News
I’ve mentioned the release date before, but now you can pre-order the complete second series of the new Doctor Who featuring the 10th Doctor, David Tennant, along with the returning Billie Piper. You’ll see more old enemies, new enemies, a great evil, creepy moments, fun moments, old friends (both human and metal), and more. The second series is currently airing on the SCI FI Channel.
70s show Ark II released on DVD Nov. 7th
by Doc on Oct.14, 2006, under General News
I’m so going back to my childhood. For those that remember, there was a short-lived (but oft-repeated) Saturday morning SF show called Ark II. After the Earth suffers some devastating event, scientists look to help try and restore it. Three young travellers (and a chimp) roll around in a cool RV trying to help. I don’t remember much of the plots or the quality, but I’ve already ordered the DVD release. Still waiting on Space Academy and Jason of Star Command, which may come out early next year. Come on and join me back in the 70s…what other shows would you like to see again? P.S. I’ve also added Star Trek: The Animated Series to the Sci-Fi TV Store – it comes out November 21st.
Happy Birthday to Sci-Fi Storm
by Doc on Oct.13, 2006, under General News
Today marks 6 years that Sci-Fi Storm has been online. Frankly, I can’t say why I’ve kept with it this long, other than I want to do it…maybe one day we can turn this into a premiere site…and I’ll get back to work on the new software to drive it…
Starships to scale
by Doc on Oct.07, 2006, under General News
An interesting site I found out about: Starship Dimensions. It takes pictures of various spaceships and shows them to scale so you can see the differences. Ships from various TV series, movies, and novels are depicted. Somehow I imagined Star Destroyers as being bigger.

Doctor Who Season 2 DVDs in January in U.S.
by Doc on Sep.22, 2006, under General News
BBC Worldwide Americas told SCI FI Wire that the second season DVD release of the new Doctor Who will hit the streets on January 16th, right after the second season finale airs on the SCI FI Channel. The release will be identical to the UK release (to avoid jealousy, apparently, on either side of the pond), although the packaging may differ. Pre-order links when available, and hopefully a review when it comes out.
Star Trek 40th Anniversary
by Doc on Sep.08, 2006, under General News
Today marks the 40th anniversary of the airing of “The Man Trap”, the first aired episode of the original Star Trek. It aired right after Daniel Boone on NBC. Ironically, Star Trek is now owned by CBS. I’m not aware of anything planned for tonight…please post if you do. There is more info about the re-rendering of the original special effects – notably the opening – for the 40th anniversary syndication edition on SCI FI Wire, which should begin airing on local stations on Sept. 16th.
New Star Wars DVDs due out Sept. 12th
by Doc on Aug.29, 2006, under General News
The new Star Wars DVDs of the original trilogy are coming out on September 12th, so I’ve updated the Sci-Fi TV Store to give them their own section. These DVDs contain both the 2004 DVD releases, and the ORIGINAL theatrical releases. Yes, I know, they aren’t TV shows, but bear with me…I’ll create a separate Movie Store soon.
