Dalek held captive
by Doc on Jun.11, 2005, under General News
A Dalek, believe to be an original prop, was stolen from Wookey Hole Caves in Wells, England, and apparently being held for ransom. The “plunger” weapon was left behind with a note that read, “We are holding the Dalek captive. We demand further instructions from the Doctor. For the safety of the human race we have disarmed and removed its destructive mechanism,” signed by “Guardians of the Planet Earth”. Publicity stunt or prank?

CauldronCon 2005 Convention Featuring LOTR, Harry Potter classmates
by Doc on Jun.02, 2005, under General News
Trisha Tunis writes “Creative Connections and the USS Richthofen are throwing a party, and you’re all invited!
Cauldron Con is a multi-genre fantasy and sci-fi themed convention taking place on 12th, 13th and 14th August 2005 at the Sheraton Ferncroft Resort and Conference Center in Danvers, Massachusetts that will be attended by many of your favourite actors and actresses including John Rhys Davies and Harry Potter’s favourite classmates.
Memberships are limited in number, as we want to run an event that won’t include standing in lines for hours on end. Instead, we’ll have an atmosphere that is relaxed and intimate.
We have all the usual convention stuff planned such as photo and autograph sessions, Q&As and, of course, three nights of dining and partying!
For more information or to purchase tickets, go to http://www.cauldroncon.com“ Hey, this one is local to me…need someone to help?
Tidbits: Galactica, Star Wars, Trek XI
by Doc on May.31, 2005, under General News
Haven’t done one of these in a while: GateWorld has a preview (spoiler warning) of the first five episodes of the second season of Battlestar Galactica; Star Wars wins the holiday weekend battle taking in over $70m – runners-up Madagascar and remake The Longest Yard earned $61m and $60m respectively – yet box office receipts are down 5.5% from last year; and TrekToday is reporting that an eleventh Star Trek movie could come sooner than you think.
MacGyver Season 2 DVD review
by Doc on May.29, 2005, under General News
MacGyver did everything with nothing – give him a problem and some household items, he’d create a “MacGyverism” – a device tht solves the problem. As a special agent with the Phoenix Foundation, he seems to find himself in these situations frequently. The second season of this show starring Richard Dean Anderson (Stargate SG-1) [sfs=525]comes out June 7th[/sfs] on DVD. Check out my review, and check out the official site.
