The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King took the Best Ensemble award at this years SAG Awards. The SAG awards are coveted by actors as they are voted on by their peers. It also bodes well for the Oscars – last year’s winner Chicago went on to take Best Picture.

I typed all this in before, and it vanished – must have walked away without saving it – chock it up to a few days of pseudo-vacation and starting to play EverCrack…err, EverQuest. Anyways, Warner Home Video sent along images and a press release for the upcoming Stargate SG-1 Season 6 Box Set. Slip over to the Stargate SG-1 Store to see the goods.

tchansen writes “According to TheForce.Net, LucasFilm will officially announce that the original Star Wars Trilogy will be released on September 21st, 2004. The site is reporting that the announcement will come on Tuesday, February 10th, 2004 and will include four discs. No mention of any extras or the content of the fourth disc. Maybe the Christmas special? 🙂 We’ll see in the morning…” Ah, the special that wouldn’t die…Update: It’s official.

Peter Jackson gave a few hints as to what may appear in the Extended Edition of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, although not everything filmed will make it in. I’m a bit confused as to whether these will or won’t be included, but I hope they are, even if they aren’t “true to the book”: a drinking contest between Gimli and Legolas, and a scene with Frodo and Sam pretending to be orcs. And Peter Jackson won the Director’s Guild of America award for RotK, which bodes well for is Oscar chances.

The nominees for the 2003 Nebula Awards have been announced by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association, and you can read excerpts and even complete stories of some of the nominees.

Well, its official – there is a new Babylon 5 project written by JMS, as told by him on rec.arts.sf.tv.babylon5.moderated. However, we don’t know the name (just the initials: “B5:TMoS”), or what it is (series, TV movie, feature?) Hopefully more soon when the suits give the green light.
