Well, it seems confirmed that Mike Judge’s 3001, which will star Luke Wilson (Old School), is not the version of Arthur C. Clarke’s 3001 – The Final Odyssey as I hoped it wasn’t. In this one, Joe Bowers, played by Wilson, is part of a hibernation program and wakes in 3001, where people have become so dumb he is the smartest person alive. I think the humor factor would be enhanced if it was his brother Owen (Zoolander) instead…

tchansen writes “According to SciFiWire (DVD Recuts Daredevil), the director’s cut of Daredevil will be quite different from the theatrical release, including a rating change from PG-13 to R. Personally, I thought that it was a bit too much for a PG-13 movie so I think this could be a good thing.”

Artist R. Dennis Antorini has produced a couple of Flash animations – one for Larry Niven’s Ringworld and one for his Known Space universe in general. Very cool stuff – and not just because they mention my Enyclopedia of Known Space…

I’ve finally taken the time to update the Sci-Fi TV, Stargate SG-1 and Babylon 5 stores with some upcoming (and belated) releases – check them out. Notable, Babylon 5 Season 5 (April 13th), Stargate SG-1 Season 6 (March 2nd), a couple new Doctor Who, Lexx and Farscape releases, Red Dwarf Series 3 and Series 4 (Feb. 3rd), Star Trek: Voyager Season 1 (Feb. 24th), and even the complete Star Blazers: The Bolar Wars collection (now). And don’t forget – both Stargate SG-1 Season 5 and Jeremiah Season 1 are out on January 20th. Update 1/13: MGM has released the TV spot for the Stargate SG-1 on the net, Windows Media: 300k, 100k, 56k. Update 1/14: And now for Jeremiah:

Looking for some gifts for the SF fan you won’t see until after the New Year? Or willing to put an IOU in a stocking? There are several eagerly awaited DVD box sets coming out in January: Lost in Space Season 1 and Babylon 5 Season 4 are due on the 6th; Jeremiah Season 1 and Stargate SG-1 Season 5 follow up on the 20th. Haven’t gotten any of the B5 disks yet? Try the first four season in one set!. And good news – we may not have long to wait for the final season – TV Shows on DVD is reporting that Season 5 will hit the shelves on April 13th!

The Sci-Fi Storm Stores will be offline for a while today while I do a much needed upgrade to the OS on that server. Hopefully it won’t take long, but it may take a bit to redo a lot of my customizations. Update: All should be well now. Update 12/23: Apparently the script that updates DNS with my dynamic IP didn’t work, and Verizon decided to change my address after two months. So the stores are down at the moment, but I’m working on it….Update: Fixed, but it may take some time for the DNS caches to get the new address, and you may need to restart your browser.

The new Battlestar Galactica miniseries premieres this coming Monday at 9PM ET on the SCI FI Channel. I recently finally watched The Lowdown on it, and there was more information about the changes that have been made. Aside from the known (Starbuck is female, and so is Boomer), the Cylons are now more humanlike (with some mechanicals) originally created by the humans (in the original the Cylon race was actually extinct, and what was referred to as Cylons were their creation). And the Galactica itself is not a flagship but an old clunker ready for mothballs. I have mixed feelings, but will at least watch it to let it stand on its own.
