The Science of Star Wars travelling exhibit planned

The Museum of Science in Boston, in collaboration with Lucasfilm and the Science Museum Exhibit Collaborative, are planning for an exhibit called The Science of Star Wars, which uses the franchise as a way to promote understanding the role of technology in the future. Still in the planning stages, it is slated for October 2005 in Boston, then travel to the Collaborative members in Columbus, Ohio; Portland, Ore.; Los Angeles; St. Paul, Minn.; Philadelphia; and Fort Worth, Texas.

“Lost” Doctor Who episode to get made

Whovians know what “Shada” is – an episode of Doctor Who featuring the 4th Doctor, Romana, and K9 written by the late Douglas Adams (“Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”) that had production halted due to a strike in 1979. It was hailed as the greatest episode ever written. It was released on video tape with Tom Baker filling in the missing parts in narration. Well, it’s going to be produced again by the BBC, with Paul McGann filling in as the Doctor.

Jonathan Harris, Lost in Space‘s Dr. Smith, dead at 87

Jonathan Harris, best known as the bumbling Dr. Zachary Smith in the original Lost in Space series of the 60s, and more recently the voice behind many animated characters in series and features such as A Bug’s Life and Toy Story 2, passed away Sunday at the age of 87.

The next two Tuesdays are going to be expensive ones….of course, the Babylon 5 Season 1 Box Set is out tomorrow, as are ST:TNG Season 5 and X-Files Season 6 (my previous report of 11/7 was mistaken). Next Tuesday gives us movies, movies, movies – the extended Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Gift Set and Standard) and Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (Widescreen and Fullscreen). Since I won’t get the B5 discs until Christmas, can someone send in a review?
Duck Dodgers to return!!!

This is the best news I’ve heard in a long time.
Warner Brothers is producing a new series of Looney Tunes shorts – including one with Duck Dodgers in Attack of the Drones, which will spoof many recent SF movies. It’s all to build up for the live action/animated feature Looney Tunes: Back in Action.

We are closing in on B-day (the day when the Babylon 5 Season 1 Box Set is released) – November 5th. Also up that day: Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 5 and Star Blazers: The Comet Empire Set. Tomorrow brings us the Farscape Season 1 Box Set, and this Friday gives us Spiderman (Giftset, Widescreen amd Fullscreen).
Update 10/29: I forgot – Friday 10/5 also gives us The X-Files Sixth Season.
