Why you can’t connect…
by Doc on Jan.10, 2001, under General News
Before all the comments come in saying “Boy, this site sucks – I can never connect…”, believe me, I’m as frustrated as you.
Right now, we get out service for free. So, I can’t really complain about the service. If/when I can generate enough income from the site (or pick up a major sponsor…please…), then I’ll get a real connection. Until then, just keep trying. And if we are to get anywhere, we need hits! We need discussions! Where is everyone???
Want to help out? Hop on over to the
Babylon 5 Store (link at the left as well) and buy something, anything, whatever. You don’t have to buy B5 merchandise – follow the Amazon.com links and order anything you want, and we’ll get a cut. I hope to bring more such stores online – my first target is a Niven store (in conjunction with a Known Space Encyclopedia, but if you know how long it took to create the B5 Encyclopedia, you’ll know when it will be done… :^)

Fiona Avery’s new comic debuts next month
by Doc on Jan.09, 2001, under General News
Stumbled across this at Top Cow. Fiona Avery will be debuting her new comic, No Honor, next month. It is about a world-class thief who accidentally unleashes and is possessed by the spirit of a Samurai Warrior when he cuts himself on a stolen Katana.
Tidbits: Seven, Trek, Matrix, Spidey, etc.
by Doc on Dec.29, 2000, under General News
This week at Sci-Fi Weekly: Seven of Nine may turn tragic before the end of Voyager; Fan still pushing for U.S.S. Excelsior Trek series; Yoeh possibly in Matrix sequels while Keanu trains; Sam Raimi talks about Spider-Man, with Bruce Campbell getting a cameo; and more.
Site stability problems
by Doc on Dec.22, 2000, under General News
My apologies for the stability of the site lately. I tried to make an important upgrade, but you all know how well that works.
The server began shutting down for no known reason after the upgrade, so I’ve backed out the changes and hopefully it will be stable again. Down the road I’ll do some more work to reimplement the changes.
Hopefully some day I’ll be able to afford redundant systems…
Update 12/22: Well, the hardware swap in in place. It is a slower box, but maybe it will work…still testing. There were some routing issues that took a while to clear up as well.
TNN: The Star Trek Network, Star Trek X, and a new series
by Doc on Nov.30, 2000, under General News
IGN is reporting that TNN (now called The National Network…) has purchased the rights to the modern Star Trek series (TNG, DS9, and Voyager) for the previously reported $364 million.
In addition, the article has some info on the next Trek movie, the Voyager finale, and the rumored 5th series.
A new look coming…
by Doc on Nov.22, 2000, under General News
I was never particularly satisfied with the color scheme on the site. So, over the weekend (and probably partly into next week) I hope to do some color scheme changes. Of course, this will probably make the site look pretty bad at times, so please bear with me…
Update 11/26: The bulk of the change is complete. This is probably not the final look, but it is close. I want to add a little 3D flare to it, but didn’t have time yet. And yes, the graphics still need to be fixed…
Where is everyone?
by Doc on Nov.12, 2000, under General News
So, where is everyone? We need stories! We need book reviews! We need people! Tell your friends! Co-workers! Mothers! Let the word out!!!!
What’s in a name? Well…
by Doc on Oct.16, 2000, under General News
OK, so apparently Slash has some other meaning in the Sci-Fi world that I wasn’t aware of. Here, “Slash” is the name of the software system in use. But as this may convey a meaning not intended (or wanted), we will undergo a name change – to Sci-Fi Storm. Things may break for a bit while the name change takes affect.
Update 10/18/00: The new domain name, scifistorm.org, is out there now…
