Warner Bros plans new licensing campaign for classic Batman series
by Doc on Jun.07, 2012, under Television
Warner Bros apparently sees some money still in the classic 60s Batman TV series, which starred Adam West and Burt Ward as the caped crusader and his sidekick Robin, in a very campy take on the otherwise Dark Knight of Gotham. Today Warner Bros. Consumer Products announced an all-new licensing program for the series, which for years only made available the Batmobile for licensing. But now the new program includes all sorts of art, gadgets from the show like the Bat-phone, as well as the likeness of the stars and many of their arch enemies, including Cesar Romero as The Joker, Burgess Meredith as The Penguin, Vincent Price as Egghead and Eartha Kitt as Catwoman.
What is interesting is that the original series still has yet to see a digital release of any kind – long rumored to be due to disagreements about the various rights holders. The theatrical movie that was released between the first and second seasons has both a [asin=B0016MOWPA]DVD[/asin] and [asin=B0016MOWOQ]Blu-ray[/asin] release, however, but this new licensing program makes no mention of the actual footage from theseries being available.

Munsters reboot gets Herman, and maybe Lily
by Doc on Jun.05, 2012, under Television
NBC’s pilot reboot of The Munsters, Mockingbird Lane, finally has a Herman and Lily Munster…or, at least, a Herman. Jerry O’Connell (Sliders) has been tapped for the role of Herman Munster, the clumsy patriarch and Frankenstein of the movie-monster-merged family.
The twist is that Mariana Klaveno (True Blood), who has been chosen to play matriarch Lily Munster, is currently committed to an ABC pilot, Devious Minds, which is now being considered for pickup by Lifetime. Klaveno had only a minor role in the pilot but is still under contract, and ABC Studios, which is the show’s producer, isn’t budging – even with NBC offering to allow her a recurring role on Devious Minds so long as they have priority.
Previously announced castings are comedian Eddie Izzard (United States of Tara) as Grandpa Munster; Mason Cook (Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D ) as 10-year-old werewolf son Eddie; and Charity Wakefield (The Raven) as the “normal” cousin.

by Doc on Jun.05, 2012, under Television
Syfy announced today that it has renewed its hit series Lost Girl – the #1 cable drama among Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 in its time period – for a third season of 13 episodes, beginning January 2013.
During season two to-date, Lost Girl is averaging 895,000 Adults 18-49, 930,000 Adults 25-54 and 1.64 million total viewers, based on available Live +7 data.
On July 20, Lost Girl will move from Mondays at 10PM (ET/PT) to Fridays at 10PM.
Anna Silk (Being Erica) stars as seductress Bo, a Succubus (a powerful female entity in folklore) who feeds off sexual energy. Raised by human parents, Bo had no reason to believe she was anything other than the girl next door – until she “drained” her first boyfriend to death.
Bo discovers she is one of the Fae, creatures of legend who pass as humans while secretly feeding off them. Faced with choosing between an allegiance to the Dark or Light Fae clans, Bo takes the middle path between the human and Fae worlds while embarking on a mission to unlock the secrets of her origin.
Returning for season three are Kris Holden-Ried (Ben Hur, The Tudors, Underworld 4) as “Dyson”; Ksenia Solo (Life Unexpected; Black Swan) as “Kenzi”; Zoie Palmer (The Guard, Instant Star, XIII) as “Lauren”; Rick Howland (Billable Hours, Murdoch Mysteries) as “Trick” and K.C. Collins (Owning Mahowny, Doomstown) as “Hale.”
Joining the Lost Girl cast this season is Rachel Skarsten (The Vow; Flashpoint) in a recurring role as “Tamsin,” a thrill-seeking, sexy new Fae who ruffles many feathers. Emmanuelle Vaugier (Two and a Half Men, Covert Affairs) will reprise her role as “The Morrigan,” the leader of the Dark Fae.
Lost Girl was developed by Prodigy Pictures, in association with Shaw Media and Showcase. Executive producers are Jay Firestone, Emily Andras, Plato Fountidakis, and Paul Rapovski. James Thorpe is co-executive producer, Vanessa Piazza is co-producer and Wanda Chaffey is producer.
